That preferably allows you to login. I prefer watching videos from my suggestions, not subscriptions. So that's a must for me.

With these revanced guys there's always some fuckin hoop or hurdle, the biggest being their lack of armv7 support. Now the reisxd builder is archived and broken, and the v4 builder isn't public yet. Really poorly managed project honestly, I'm done with it.

If you're on a phone, try Newpipe. If it is AndroidTV, there's only one - SmartTube.

[–] CorrodedCranium@lemmy.fmhy.ml 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Worth noting you can export your subscriptions on NewPipe so you can bring them to other platforms.

On PC you can you use Individious

[–] ANIMATEK@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That you can use on any device. But OP wants his suggestions, so it’s out of the question

[–] CorrodedCranium@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah I get that. I wasn't suggesting Invidious. I was saying NewPipe is a good option because you can port your subscriptions to other platforms.

You don't need to start fresh every time you start using an open source alternative.

That said it would work in OP's situation because it's pretty much platform agnostic and there are available apps to make it easier to use on the Play Store. I still think NewPipe is the way to go though because it's designed for Android.

Try building from the revanced manager, it should allow you to login. Also, install microg.

It might be time to retire it then.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I'm not gonna replace a perfectly fine phone for a fuckin app bro, christ.

[–] db2@lemmy.one 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You're a pleasant one. Glad blocking is implemented. Try not being a dickhead when you're asking for help next time, if you can.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lol, I just said I'm not gonna replace my phone for an app, it's a pretty ridiculous suggestion.

[–] all-knight-party@fedia.io 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's more the tone, it's respectable to say "it's a bit outdated, but I'm not quite done using this phone yet, so I'm trying to explore other options for YouTube without a full upgrade", a little less to say "... For a fuckin app bro, christ".

The other person did have a pretty flat tone that you could interpret as blunt and uncaring, so as the internet tone police, I say everybody is going to jail here!

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Eh I don't mince words, let people make of it what they will.

[–] RanchOnPancakes@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

While I respect not wanting to replace hardware just because I'm also genuinely curious what hardware this is. I thought v7 was very old.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's at most 4 years old and still running flawlessly.

[–] RanchOnPancakes@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I see. I guess V7 went on longer than I thought.

No what? I'm literally just explaining why ArmV7 kernels are still used to this day.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Are you a bot? Literally just read what I was responding to.

[–] Ganbat@lemmyonline.com 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Are you a jackass? It was showing your comment attached to this comment of mine. Now it's not showing it at all.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No lol, you are. You're the one getting all steamy because you're out of context mate. Go touch some grass.

[–] Ganbat@lemmyonline.com 2 points 1 year ago

Armv7 basically boils down to a 32 bit kernel, and any phone with less than 4GB ram is almost definitely going to have a 32 bit kernel, even with a 64 bit processor.

[–] Pulp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Doesnt sound perfectly fine then

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] Pulp@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

But you just said it doesnt support shit

Lol, source?

Edit: This, my friends, is a prime example of the toxic community surrounding ReVanced.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

You don't retire perfectly good hardware just because some of the software is too different to support it. You find alternatives so that you aren't contributing to the wasteful bullshit that is forced obsolescence.

[–] LeHappStick@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

just use Firefox with ublock bro can't go wrong

[–] qimdbxfk6@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Try NewPipe

[–] Shiroa@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago (4 children)

IIRC Isn't the Armv7 support limitation just for Revanced Manager? Just build the version you need on your computer using revanced-cli.

[–] Ganbat@lemmyonline.com 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hence OP's mention of the builder being broken and archived. The actual documentation of the cli is functionally non-existent, too.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

That's the reisxd builder, I thought revanced cli was the same thing but it isn't.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Worked beautifully. God awful documentation as always with this team, but I managed it.

[–] Shiroa@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah I've been trying to figure what's up with that. There used to be really nice guides written on the github but it looks like they're gone now for some reason.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I think they're purposefully making the barrier to entry high. It's really fucking annoying but at least it's there and it works. Been kinda harsh in this post but they deserve props for that at least.

[–] BraBraBra@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Oh I thought that was the reisxd builder. Thanks mate

[–] drd@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Can confirm, I'm currently on an Armv7 device and built revanced using the CLI. Has been running smoothly for me.

Invidious, find one instance that allows user registration (don't use your Google account info)

[–] RandyButternubs@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Brave browser, can play in background and no ads.
