I think that’s generally true and most people know it, the problem is the minority of people that use that to take advantage of others. You can’t really predict who that’s going to be, so you just have to assume anything potentially suspicious is somebody with ill intent. Religions are part of that minority that take advantage of the good intentions of most people.

From a recent Last Podcast on The Left discussion, which is to say "in the opinion of people who have dedicated their lives to true crime", OP is correct. Most people are fine.
