MODERATORS

Did some light reading today through the campaign finance sections of several GOP PACs to see which local businesses might be donating to them. I figured that like looking through local health inspector reports, there might be a few surprises. As they say, every dollar is a vote, so hopefully you can use this information to vote with your dollars.

Here's our top direct donors to the Lane County Republican Central Committee since 2017

  • Crisdental (Dental practice) $3800 in 2023
  • Third Generation Painting $1000 in 2020
  • Staton Companies (contractor) $1000 in 2020
  • Builder's Electric $500 in 2019
  • Camp Creek Electric $500 in 2019
  • Centennial Steakhouse $460 in 2020
  • Northwest Arsenal $300 in 2019
  • Papa's Pizza $250 (in-kind contribution) in 2018
  • Tomlin Benefit Planning (insurance agency) $250 in 2020
  • KKNX and KEED Radio $200 in 2020
  • Wynat's Family Nutrition (health food store) $200 in 2019

*I'm only including names of companies consumers might actually recognize. There's a number of other individuals, PACs and various LLCs you've probably never heard of which rank highly on these lists

Some other honorable mentions:

  • Clairmont-Kincaid Apartments $500 to Friends of Christine Drazan
  • Ray's Towing $1000 to Friends of Christine Drazan

Papa's Pizza $250 (in-kind contribution) in 2018

Does this mean they gave away a lot of pizza to some event?

With Papa's, it's more like "pizza." I don't know why anyone eats whatever you call those stiff, gummy abominations that come out of their ovens.

Given their pizza fundraisers - would make sense. Also lines up with the FEC's definition of an in-kind contribution.

@letsmakeafriendship Honesty surprised to not see Elk Horn Brewing on there

Same. Many business owners donate individually instead of as a business, so it could be they donated that way. I didn't do through the trouble of matching up individual donors to business names.
