Thompson you the man!!! And Brooks finishes it off - hell yeah!

Fitting it ends on an offsides penalty. I genuinely don't know why defenses jump on 4th and short in situations like that where it's an obvious bait for the penalty

Lol at the SEC chants. It doesn't really work though when we're going to that conference...

The orange UT will always be better than bama!

This game has suddenly become like two boxers standing in the middle of the ring and punching each other!

Agreed, the first half was a defensive showcase. This half is impressive offensive schemes from both teams. How do you feel about Rees at OC?

Alabama looks very undisciplined. Kinda like last year's game

Damn, cool throw by Worthy, but what a better throw by Ewers for the TD!!!

Man, sucks to turnover on downs after all that. But cool Ewers reception from himself, those always crack me up

Are Bama fans chanting "bullshit" on that illegal lineman downfield call? Those aren't subjective calls, lmao

Exactly how we drew up the 4th down conversion lol

[–] Nusm@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Wow, when you hold, you’re not supposed to hold on to the jersey that long!

I am obligated to root for orange teams! Beat Bama!

Barron with the clutch INT!

Hurts to take just 3 points on what was a good drive. Worthy really needed to catch that 3rd down throw in the end zone

I was sort of half-heartedly rooting for Bama, but I didn't feel great about it. I am particularly NOT looking forward to the fans of two-loss Alabama whining that they deserve to be in the playoff against whatever one-loss conference champ beats them out.

Ewers' development since last year is impressive. I had my doubts he'd amount to much of anything. Looking very good against a supposedly solid D.

[–] atx_aquarian@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Looking very good

Haircut was a lot of that, I think.

Ref in the concussion protocol, I've seen it all

That camera man in the student section understood the assignment

[–] Nusm@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

My favorite team is playing… the one against Alabama.

That was the right call. Not enough time to make a football move

[–] Nusm@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

That play was UNBELIEVEABLE.

And then the whole thing was nullified with a dumb penalty.

[–] Nusm@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

And back come the Longhorns!

[–] wjrii@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Interesting. This one could get away from Bama.

[–] wjrii@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

Sanders is very good, but if Alabama can't handle him, they're going to get destroyed by Bowers.

[–] wjrii@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

This UT coverage starting to look like they think there's only 2 minutes left.

[–] garrett@fanaticus.social 3 points 1 year ago

Love a good upset.

[–] Nusm@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

That lack of a tackle says a lot about Alabama. They’re trying to make the big hit and not wrapping up and tackling.

Excellent defense there! Milroe looks good but our D seems like they can hang with him

[–] wjrii@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Been streaming my reptile teams against FCS competition to make sure I can feel safe putting down the denatured alcohol for a week. Looks like both are doing okay.

How's this one going?

If you watched last year's game, this feels like a repeat (but Milroe's obviously not as good as Bryce Young was). God, I hope it ends differently

Normally I would root for orange team, but, ehh, fuck it. Enjoy the SEC preview, motherfuckers.

Here we gooooo

I will maintain that whatever else, using these timeouts is the right move. You guarantee that each one saves the maximum possible amount of time.

[–] ToasterOverlord@fanaticus.social 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm with you there. Coaches that are bad at game management use them way too late

[–] wjrii@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Exactly. I guess they don’t want the stress of being on offense without timeouts, but you have multiple clock management tools on offense, from clocking the ball, to throwing past the sticks, to getting out of bounds, to simply doing shit quickly. They’re there, and the more time you have, the less you will need to rely on them.

You have almost no legitimate equivalents on defense. Every single timeout you use against a team playing four-minute offense saves you 39 seconds of game clock. I’d say that it’s always worthwhile to burn two, and it’s only going to be rarely that keeping the final TO is worth that much time.

[–] Nusm@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Gotta run more time off the clock than that... 3 and out is not ideal

[–] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I came in halfway through the review, wtf was that about?

Really weird 4th down play. Totally botched it, but our RB was totally on the ball when he saw it. Refs on the field called it wrong but it was obvious from the footage the ball was a free for all

[–] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Go orange team! Go UT! Boo Bama!

Hell yes. Sanders was the beast of that drive with allllll the YAC on his reception

[–] wjrii@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

That was a bad case of swallowing the whistle to wait for review. Looked pretty to be pretty clearly an incomplete.
Somebody could have got hurt in the scramble.

[–] rebul@kbin.social 0 points 1 year ago

Very sloppy football game. Both teams could end up 8-4 this year.
