Agreed, this feels like more theater. These holds make so much sense when you put it in the larger context of what the moron movement is setting itself up for.

Today I had lunch at a restaraunt, I was given the option to tip so I did, expecting to get service. I got the fast food treatment, they threw a tray on the counter that I had to pickup and when I went to leave they made me bus my own table...

I've got family that used to rely on tips so I've always been a generous tipper. The recent tip culture has completely changed me though and now these expected tips just piss me off.

Exactly, it’s just a phase of enshittification. Shortly after they close the platform down they will start ramping up the ads even more, maybe even embed them. Who knows how long it will take but it’s part of the death spiral we’ve seen many times. No idea if it’s become too big to fail though, either way, if I’m blocked it’s probably for the best regardless.

they also overestimate their importance to the same crowd. I mean, I use youtube a lot but as soon as I'm unable to without my adblocker in place, I'm done with the site. Already cut out several other sites that have done similar things; YouTube is big, but it's not the only time waster in town.

Headline reads like a punchline.

I’ve been known to delete posts that get one or two downvotes, makes me realize my comment wasn’t that helpful or interesting. If one of them gets a lot, it stays. I’m happy to be wrong or unpopular, at least the comment added to the discourse :)

Always pissed me off because if you have to choose do you want an unelected corporation concerned primarily with profits controlling access to your healthcare or one where you have the ability to vote them out?

Just a moronic talking point all the way down.

The way I see it is that anyone can put up an ad wherever they want but in my own space I’m allowed to do whatever I like to block it out. Feel free to show them to me but my eyes so I decide what to look at with them, and the tools that modern systems have are the same as the cardboard I put on my window when I was young to block out the gas station lights across the street.

If they tell me I’m no longer allowed to look out the window without being blinded by neon, there’s a 100% chance I’ll move.

Dude, I’m disrespectful to all generations. Respect is earned and while you should give the individual people the benefit of doubt, I have zero qualms about generalizing populations based on demographics. There are age groups that support shit that is destroying our country more than others. Recognizing that is important to understand the underlying causes for which to find the solutions that can then be applied to those individuals I spoke of.

Do you remember the early days of social media? IMHO, as the new hotness I’ve seen a rapid pace of improvements that I honestly expect to ramp up further as more utilization comes. Pure speculation but I’m basing it on my grey beard and the refreshing experience I’m having here.

Mine was a joke about that being their former corporate motto. Yours works just as well though :)

My wife just bought “retro” yarn which is 90’s dayglo themed. Neon is apparently the new burnt umber or harvest gold.
