So nice. Birds are just awesome.

[–] AchtungDrempels@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Yeah, i guess it is just moulting. I only started to feel weird about it because the sister does not yet. Thank you.

Nice. My pocket knives are Opinel, love those too.

Holy shit. I should know. What did i do, haha. But it is knives, right?

[–] AchtungDrempels@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

lol that is awesome. Are you sure it's from the municipality and not some diy job?

I built this myself from sticks, wire, a plastic lid from a box of licorice, a lid with seeds and a small plastic bucket with some fatty homemade tit food. I stuck it into the flower pot, but it is quite shaky due to pigeons landing on top of it. And parakeets and apparently woodpeckers :)

Better view of it:

[–] AchtungDrempels@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Right? I was hyped seeing it there. I saw it before in the tree, pecking along, but never near my balcony.

[–] AchtungDrempels@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Haha, yeah I guess me too.

Love this one because of all the pigeons, somebody feeds them there and it's always a whole lot of them there, often times just happily fed and chilling.

I don't know, maybe by crudely cutting some real old bread, haha.

But yeah, that's why i said that probably any bread knife is a bifl item, just this knife is hands down the best bread knife i have ever used, so i thought i'd recommend it.

At first i thought it may be moulting, but it is only three months old and its little sister's feathers look nothing like it, her feathers look perfect. I would guess for about two weeks now it looks scruffier by the day?!

It actually manages to get some food from it with the long beak. I also suspect it to be the bird who picks up the peanut that I lay out in one of the flower pots every day.

we could maybe counter that by having a more active community

🙄

I remember being a bit turned off when they recommended it to me in the shop, because of it being a Victorinox, but they told me it's the standard bread knife for all the restaurants etc, so i thought why not, it was also only around 20€ or something. I bought it for my parents too, they somehow lost their old bread knife (how can you lose a bread knife?), they also like it a lot.

The bread is from a bakery.

I guess pretty much any bread knife is a bifl one, but in the twenty odd years i've had this, i keep thinking to myself that this knife is awesome basically any time i use it. That's why i want to recommend it. When I bought it it was quite cheap too, does not seem to be the case anymore. Is a Victorinox 5.2930.26

How do you like it? How do you find people to follow when running your own "instance"? How does it interact with lemmy? It is an intriguing option i think, i am interested in this.

Title photo taken on the highest mountain in Belgium. Looks all flat, but it is a plateau actually just shy of 700m. It is a peat bog landscape, very nice and unique. But a lot of mud. Probably looking at Germany, at least it's somewhere there in that direction.

Beautiful autumn forest vibes.

Was amazing weather today. Was cold in the morning but the sun came through real good. Were also quite some other people out, hiking and it seems like the ebikers found their way around there too now.

Probably last one for this year, days are going to be real short soon. Very happy to have done it, was real nice.

Little overnighter in Belgium before it gets too cold, wet and dark. Forgot my filters and didn't feel like cooking cowboy coffee, sitting in a Café now, getting some caffeine in :) Sunshine, beautiful autumn forest.

Nice read about a trip on the buffalo bicycle (which was posted about here some time ago), with an interesting view on the "world bicycle relief".

It's the older one of the two that grew up on my balcony. I haven't seen the younger one in a long time, this one i had not seen for two weeks (for which one i was on holidays).

Fed him some sunflower hearts. He is absolutely not scared of me and also not of my camera. When i tried to pet him, he picked at me and also hit me with a wing some time ago, haha. I don't think he'd do that if he was actually scared.

He then was sitting in the corner of the balcony where he used to sit with his little sister when they couldn't fly.

Mom and pops were just checking out my balcony again to find a place to nest, but i saw them do it yesterday already and upgraded the anti nestabiltity a bit. They left now, i don't think they found anything good today.

Title picture taken on the way from Buis-les-Barronies towards Montbrun-les-Bains. Mont Ventoux seems to be everywhere, then again i cycled around it quite a lot ;)

Originally i wanted to do two weeks in Cyprus, but when i was checking in my bike at the airport, they did not allow me to bring it just bubble wrapped. That was such a bummer, i had done this a few times before without problem. It sucked and i could not reschedule the flight for it to make sense because the flights to Cyprus were so few.

So i sat at home depressed for a couple days, then drove my car to Valence, France and rode from there to the Luberon and back. The Drôme provençale and the Mont Ventoux Area are really gorgeus. Luberon i did not enjoy as much, still very nice, i rode the ridge road of the petit Luberon and thought i may have panoramas to both sides, but it was mostly forest, but a cedar forest, not something i have seen before i think.

On the descend from Col de la Chaudière towards Bourdeaux

First time touring without a kickstand, it was less anoying than i thought it would be, i think i'll continue doing that too. Also brought my camera again this time, that's what i had the feedbag for, fits pretty good. But i think i'll skip that again and bring just the phone, although i much prefer taking photos through a viewfinder. In this post i am using only photos taken with my phone, haha.

Gorges de la Nesque - had ridden those five years ago already but it's not like it was boring to do again :)

I also got some wider tires, 47mm so my fenders fit no more. Great upgrade in comfort though coming from40 mm. I guess i'll keep fenders off for touring, love the tires (Continental Contact Urban 47-622), and although they are basically slick, it did not feel any less grippy on gravel, did a couple good gravel climbs and downhills. No long time test yet, i got only about 600 km on them.

Testing my new tires on gravel at Col des Arles
