You already have downhill longboarders going 80kmh+. They wear full body armour, and I would hazard the same would be recommended here. It's not for everyone, but some people like speed and danger.
I fix my grandmother's printer connection ever few weeks and she thinks I should work for geek squad because I'm some kinda tech genius. No grandma, thanks but no thanks. She prints out pages that she saves so she can look at them any time. She also only has a laptop...

There's a real simple solution here, avoid going ng to US institutions if you are planning to study abroad. Plenty of good schools out there, go to one where you can be free to express yourself.
I know people who have reinvented themselves and left the past behind, and I know people who have reinvented themselves and carried on with their legal names. Depends on the person and the setting. To each their own.
