The one thing I would worry about is that a massive deluge of content from Meta would drown out anything else from Lemmy, and would effectively reduce Lemmy to just a client for interacting with Meta. Unless an individual could block Meta specifically (or any one instance) it would effectively kill the All category.

Also would the flood of new traffic make it impossible for individuals to bear the cost of small instances?

That’s just what I think anyway. I’m not totally against federating with them, but very skeptical.

I haven’t played D4 yet, no. I rarely play games anymore. Not like I used to. And I’m too nostalgic for D2.

Maybe not something i wish I knew, but I wish I had a zeal for education when I was younger. It really took me until about my junior year in high school to really click. Only then did I actually appreciate studying. Before then, it was just an obligation. I still did fairly well, but I wish I had been more intentional about it.

Also, get involved in groups and don’t be so shy. Nobody cares about the small anxieties that you’re worried about. Just join groups and have fun. Still hard to apply this lesson even as an adult, but I try.

Well, I just joined today, so only one. But since you can subscribe and post to communities on any other instance, I’m not sure why I would need to sign up on another unless I wanted to change. That’s what makes the fediverse amazing.

I played a shit ton of WoW when I was younger. It stopped being fun a long time ago. Mostly it was only fun with friends.

D3 also sucks. Played a lot of that at launch, and also when the expansion came out (can’t remember the name). D2 was always way better, and now with D2R, I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy another game in my life.

I just can’t understand the rationale for all that. Was it all for cost cutting? You would think after 140 years they would be relatively stable.

I don’t copy code. I look for inspiration!

I like it and I’m optimistic that it will only continue to grow and get better. I also really like the fediverse as a concept. It feels more like the old internet, where you had lots of smaller communities, rather than everything centralized into one huge space.
