That may have been what they pitched to investors. There's no way Ubisoft would have pulled something like that off without ruining it.
You know, a fun project would be compiling an instruction book for elevating/fast forwarding technology just in case someone does get sent back in time.
It's probably dependent on the reference frame of the first portal, or the portal gun.
If they were smart they wouldn't be cops.
They're specifically outsiders for the purpose of providing commentary on human behavior.
