China has outlined a string of reforms to accelerate the development of hi-tech emerging industries in the city of Shenzhen, as the tech hub in southern China grapples with a barrage of US trade restrictions.

The plan focuses on boosting Shenzhen’s ability to create scalable business models in industries such as artificial intelligence and aviation that can be replicated across China, by helping the city cultivate a larger talent pool, expand local companies’ access to financing, and speed up the deployment of cutting-edge technologies

 

It has been an exceptionally dry spring in north-western Europe and the second warmest May ever globally, according to the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S).

A court in South Korea's Gangwon Province has fined a woman 2.8 million won (US$2,000) for pulling down the trousers and underpants of a male colleague in front of other staff members.

The Chuncheon District Court handed down the sentence last weekend, also ordering the woman, who is in her 50s and works in a restaurant kitchen, to complete eight hours of sexual violence prevention education, Yonhap reported.

 

A defiant Cristina Fernández de Kirchner called on her followers and the wider Peronist movement to prepare and organise themselves on Monday as she hinted that her arrest may be imminent.

The former president's Kirchnerite movement staged a show of strength on Peronist Resistance Day, with thousands of activists descending on the headquarters of the Partido Justicialista and leading party figures attending en masse.
