Obligatory follow up since you are all amazing

Meet Nye!

I want to start this post out with a thanks to all of you from this community for the reassurance and advice, had I never came here I would have never met this wonderful kitten!

We adopted her at an estimated age of over a year. We confirmed with the provided documentation that she had all the necessary vaccinations and were assured all of their adoptees were spayed. Since then she has slipped right into routine, we're coming up on three weeks now and from what I consider she's part of the family now.

Actual question

Today she was exhibiting very interesting behavior, meowing constantly, rolling around and rubbing up against everything, and sticking her butt up in the air. We reached out to the humane society we had adopted her from and they marked her as spayed but upon further inspection noted her intake didn't state if she had been already or not.

Now for the question, to spay or not? She is handling it well, exceptionally affectionate and a bit needy but okay otherwise, at least relative to what we hear from others. She's an indoor cat, so pregnancy isn't a concern, but apart from that what are the reasons for or against taking her to be spayed?

We are in the minority, its pushed so much because it works.

There are some people who are outright influenced, but other times even shoving visuals at the user is enough to subliminally influence to a degree, advertising is all psychology.

That's why when I remember this when considering compromising and using something with ads. Its never worth the sacrifice, starting to apply the same philosophy to services who subsidize their cost of operating using data. Sure it costs me more but realistically that's how it should be, there's no free lunch.

Tbh maybe it's just me but I miss combat videos like these, reminiscent of the middle east where one guy operates the TOW and another films. Most footage coming out nowadays is laden with loud music which takes away a lot from the gravity of the situation. Especially FPVs, shows how cheap a human life can really be, and how boring it can be to take one.

Rant over, otherwise great shots by him, probably stunted the advance completely. As always it's sad to see so many lives wasted for infinitesimal gains.

Gotta feel a little for the Boeing engineers. I know its space travel and any mistake can compromise everything you've worked for, but the amount if work collectively put into this only to get canceled right before the finish line must hurt.

My partner and I are recent graduates, and are looking to adopt. I've only lived with a dog briefly and them a cat, so I don't have insight but I'm not opposed. Casting a wide net as I'm the one lacking confidence here, their gung-ho ;~;

Old versus Young? Do breeds determine personality? Behavioral red flags? I know all floofs deserve a chance at love but we're fresh faced parents.

Anything helps, thanks all!

Same here! Controls engineer with software background and BA in ChemE, just in the misguided company part of the growth spectrum, 3 years in.. Etc description all matches.

At a fork here though deciding whether I move to a bigger company (PENA) as a Sr or start my contracting life.

Too early to go mobile? How was the travel, I'm being offered lucrative contracts for 5-6 months at a time, but away from my partner. Talking with them and still thinking it over, but if you have any insight I would appreciate it. :)

Eh nothing interesting. The water would be in the bucket but pool and bead much quicker, instead of spreading and getting the bucket 'wet'. Kind of like a hydrophobic windshield coating.

I know, right? Let me help you out with that.

A ton is 907 kg approximately, and the weight of a cup of blueberries, while varying, is around 148 g or 0.148 kg.

That means the above recipe calls for around 6128 cups of blueberries. And at 3.6 g per cup of blueberries that's ~22000 g of fiber or 628 times your recommended daily intake for men, or 880 for women!

Super interesting, looking at this however has made me realize how little I know about any countries geography other than my own, time to brush up :)

Currently only have experience with a cheap Shark steam mop that pulls double duty for walls, but the capabilities are impressive!

We're looking for something more versatile, nooks and crannies are difficult, and the steam mop can't be lifted past a certain point or gravity becomes a problem.

Any recommendations for something more professional and long term? Thank you ahead of time <3

Anecdotal, but when I was just messing with qBittorrent and its search feature, I found some ROM sets just by searching for system and sorting by size. This torrent for example is not necessarily comprehensive but contains a lot of roms of which can be shared with friends and family :)

I've been searching for a solution to this exact problem. My partner sends links occasionally and I always ignore because of how the web interface is blatantly hostile. Tried routing the links through MPV on android but no dice.

If anyone has a solution please share.

Thank you for the tip! I'll shoot them the link since they do own.

My friends had me over and this poor tree looked to have fluid coming out of a very old wound. They say it was like that long before they arrived, is there anything they can do for the tree? Hate to think its been like this for years :(

Just wanted to share something I did, still very amateur when it comes to bash, but I wrote a script to disconnect bluetooth controllers after I close my emulator. I'm sure there are better ways to do it, but this is my way of coping having lost DS4Windows PS+Options quick disconnect-

#!/bin/bash

# Run Retroarch flatpak run org.libretro.RetroArch

# Disconnect Controller after Quitting bluetoothctl disconnect 40:1B:5F:C9:94:2C

Just wanted to share as either my search games is weak, or there really isn't anything out there this straightforward.

Next up, trying to set up antimicrox to enable the same feature... :)

Fear not, yuzu may be gone but there are always alternatives. Plus like YouTube Vanced, the yuzu latest build is likely to continue to work for the foreseeable future.

For a thriving alternative, check out Ryujinx, and keep an eye out for Yuzu mainline getting picked up by another team with a slightly higher barrier to entry.

The neat thing about open source software is they are really hard to kill unless interest burns out, but considering how hard yuzu has been hitting headlines I think the Streisand effect will take it course.

It's important to note that when you buy liquid detergent (or liquid anything in most cases) you're paying for both product and water. In most cases buying powder instead can lead to a lower 'cost per load'. At Costco I have to admit the difference is only ~$0.01-$0.02 per load, so it equates to $8 over a few months anyway.

That small value delta could ostensibly be argued as convenience fee but I still order powder on principal.

May have accidentally sent my earbuds through a wash cycle, pretty gnarly corrosion on the right bud and the main charge controller. My first water damage! Is this worth doing anything with or shall I move to another used pair of buds? For reference I picked these up secondhand for $50 :)

Started learning Linux with Manjaro a few years ago, but there were always stability issues pushing me away from daily driving. I found when I did have time to use my PC, it was largely for gaming, and when any issue presented and needed to be fixed it was a bit of a barrier to entry.

Because of biases I always leaned to Arch for that 'bleeding edge' and rolling updates, so when I gave Linux another shot long term a few months ago I went with EndeavourOS. Everything was rock solid but I found a lot of nitpicks and after a week or so my monitors wouldn't wake from sleep... I of course don't blame the OS as more than likely there was a log somewhere explaining my issue, but I really just want to enjoy playing games after a long day.

So I gave up on my faux dream of living on the edge and instead installed Pop_OS!, and to my pleasant surprise it has been rock solid and performant to boot! My preconceived biases against Debian and it's derivatives drove me to borderline tribalism. Flatpak has remedied worries of outdated packages, and even if I did have an issue (bluetooth headphones defaulting to HSP not AD2P) I found the solution on the archwiki!

The beauty of this ecosystem is that Linux is Linux, we all benefit from improvements so long as they are made open and free, and no matter what flavor you choose, you'll always be part of the family.

Thanks for reading, and thank you to the contributors who work tirelessly to make an open and free desktop a reality :)

Just wanted some recommendations for salty snack foods for a grab and go drawer for my partner. My partner has trouble going up and down stairs often and needs a lot of salt in her diet so I was thinking some homemade beef jerky and trail mix with salted nuts. Surely there's a ton of great options out there!

TL;DR

Please share your go to homemade salty snack so I can stock a snack drawer for my partner :)
