You probably work for meta or musk or reddit trying to kill the project.

Ah yes, because bad-jacketing users is totally a way to make you seem credible. Fuck off dude, this is a trans friendly space. Who do you think you are coming here telling trans people they are "just being reactionary" then sealioning and bad-jacketing users when they call you out on your bullshit.

defederating from instances you don’t like

And that's where you lost me since I made this post highlighting a problem with management of the server expressing harmful transphobic sentiment and now you are trying to make it out like these are petty personal opinions.
We've defederated from servers which allow or don't care about transphobia already, feddit.uk is an existing example. The fact that you are dismissing the problem like this shows you don't understand why we have such hostility towards transphobic sentiment or just don't care.

They're doing what many TERFs do, trying to cover up their bigotry with politeness and trying to sound like it's about logic or discussing the meaning of things. Trying to make their transphobia seem acceptable. Then they say trans people are unreasonable when they get called out or banned for their bigotry.

This what you are doing here is called sealioning and you need to stop. You were denying the reality of transphobia and the struggles of trans people and you got called out for it. You need to take the feedback that you did something wrong and check yourself, they don't owe you an explanation of their identities and experiences. You are an outsider in this safe-space for trans people.

I agree, it's one thing to ask a question, it's another thing to make assertions like this. The latter of which is very inappropriate and disrespectful since this is a local discussion on Blahaj policies.

Yeah that's why I decided to make the thread sooner rather than later. I wanted to get the community's opinions on it and see what they think. I do think there is the risk of Nutomic and others refusing to action transphobic rhetoric similar to his own if it seems "respectful" and "logical".

Lemmy.today has already been defederated from blahaj.zone because they had some nasty spam and transphobia problems.

They both have tens of thousands of less users.

Subscriber wise they are vastly different in size, MAUs aren't as drastic. Which is largely what matters.

[–] FirstMajesticComet@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nutomic is one of the head admins on Lemmy.ml, there are others as well but he's one of the two in charge of the whole place.

They do indeed have a history of problematic moderation in general, though I'm not sure about how much they let thinly veiled transphobia slip there. There's not much of it to begin with and can be difficult to spot at first.

I’d really hate to lose !linux@lemmy.ml honestly

I pointed out in the other comment two alternatives to the Linux comm. !linux@programming.dev and !linux@sh.itjust.works, both have decent activity and could be more active if more users started posting.

[–] FirstMajesticComet@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There isn’t a suitable replacement for the Linux community elsewhere

What about !linux@programming.dev or !linux@sh.itjust.works? Those seem decently active.

but the hassle is that you cannot transfer your comments or posts to a new account

That is a minor drawback. It would be nice if they implemented ownership transfer abilities for posts and comments, though it'll probably be a while before we see that.

But overall, I think most people on ml would just stop seeing posts from our instance and never think about it. It would be a small minority that would even notice, but the majority would be getting less content from diverse voices in the queer community overall. Again, it would just take a lot of consideration.

I can see how and why this would be a problem and why this should be carefully considered, that can be a poor outcome. I guess the same can be said for any defederation including the feddit.uk one. It all depends I guess on how they handle these issues going forward and also how they handle this subject overall. If a lot of the people there are "I support trans people but I don't think kids..." (you get the idea) it doesn't really do much good to federate with them. At least in my opinion.

Admin Ping for @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone to weigh in on this issue with her thoughts and opinions on the matter.

The word futa or futanari is a term I unfortunately see used against trans women and actual intersex people. It is a term which originated in porn and anime to describe someone with both types of genitals, usually though it just refers to someone who looks feminine and has a penis. So it's no surprise it's very often used to describe non-op trans women primarily. Because it's often used in porn it carries strong connotations of sexualization and dehumanization, it reduces the person being called futa to an object of sexual desire and doesn't respect them as a person.

This term is extremely disrespectful and really has no place being used, especially in reference to trans women. Additionally because of its relation to porn people who use it will almost certainly be seen as chasers.

Hi I just wanted to let ya'll know that user ChadMcTruth@lemmy.world seems to have created a "free speech" community, could also be read as "freeze peach" as stated in the sidebar. A lot of their content is either trolling, a handful of conspiracy theories, and even a few calls to action. It is my opinion that this community isn't permitted on this instance.

The creator of the community also appears to have many alt accounts, same username, different instances they all moderate his community.

I bit ago I made a post detailing the Egg prime directive in Egg irl. To be clear that was a policy post but it also helped outline the concept in a way that many people don't do. Most descriptions of the Egg prime directive are either incomplete or, purposefully uncharitable. So it's good to clarify it.

This is a different kind of post, unlike that one it's not a policy post in regards to community enforcement, it's more meant to address the issue in a general sense.

Today I'm going to talk about why the Egg Prime Directive is important, and also more importantly, why people disagreeing with it or not following it isn't acceptable.

First why does it matter? Well I discussed it heavily in my other post but the gist of it is that it is important to respect the way a person identifies themselves, the pronouns they use, the label they call themselves. Regardless of how they look or present themselves. It seems like a pretty fundamental concept that there shouldn't be any issue with, yet somehow many people seem to have an issue with it and don't do it. When a person's identity isn't respected it can be deeply hurtful and is ultimately deeply disrespectful to them.

Why 'disagreement' with the egg is problematic at best? Well the thing is, because the Egg Prime Directive is solely about respecting the way a person identifies themselves and their autonomy to identify themselves in a way that they see fit, to argue against it is to argue against people's validity to self-identification. It's not much different from arguing against certain aspects of trans rights. Ultimately many instances where people break the Egg Prime Directive are targeting individuals who are Gender-Nonconforming or even NonBinary.

Some people argue that they should be able to break it to fight cisnormativity. However this is a very poor justification to try and make it seem okay to violate someone else's gender identification and ultimately isn't being done for their benefit, it is going against their right to identify as any gender or use any label they feel like. To be clear, they have that right, all the time. The idea that someone doesn't have the right to identify as their preferred gender or label in certain circumstances is downright dystopian.

Bottom line, there is no such thing as respectful disagreement with this concept, going against the Egg Prime Directive is solely an act of going against another person's identification. It isn't respectful to them as a person. It's very similar to "respectful transmedicalism" or "respectful transphobia" in this regard. It is a harmful behavior made out as if it's respectful or good.

Oh and By the way. Before someone tries to argue that Egging is "politely explaining what trans means to someone" this subject has been covered in the last post and respectful support and education is NOT Egging, and is freely allowed by the Egg prime directive, if not explicitly encouraged, trying to argue as if it somehow isn't is disingenuous, and frankly seems extremely uncharitable.

I'm curious, how much of a danger is it in terms of health for someone to have lower than normal or no hormones at all.

I was wondering that because I was looking things up and I recently came across a thread on r/Asktransgender where the OP said if they didn't have hormones they would physically die in a year and several other people said similar things. Is this true? I'm not an expert in medicine but it seems like misinformation to me. I know Osteoporosis is a long term risk.

I also know that personally that I have not taken Testosterone (or Estrogen) in 15 years, and I'm mostly fine. These people said it was fatal to not take it for a year or two.

What are your thoughts on what they said? Does this sound plausible or does it sound like misinformation or exaggeration?

How to get out of an uncomfortable egg culture situation with this one simple trick.

Real talk: Calling people eggs is a violation of the egg prime directive, and is considered invalidating as you are trying to say that a person is not the gender they identify as, that their identity is invalid. Don't call people eggs, like ever, it's extremely uncool.
