5 mins, new Zealand. The voting places are super empty because they open for multiple days.

There are so many better climate change comparisons than this yet I keep hearing this stupid one repeated over and over. Ultimately it doesn't matter than billionaires personally emite more carbon than "the average person" because even if they dropped that stat to match the average there would be absolutely no difference.

Target the biggest carbon emitters which is businesses. Every time carbon emissions is brought up it should be in the context of making businesses emit less carbon. Make them pay for emitting carbon, give tax credits for green technology that stuff will be infinetly more effective that targeting specific people.

I don't care that Taylor swift took a jet to her concert its not her issue to fix. Its the responsibility of the government to solve this through strong environmental policy. Government policy changing incentives will flow down to the individual and adjust their behaviour instead of a mob trying to shame individuals into changing their behaviour.

I watched the episode with vance cause I thought I'd stay up todate with the latest craziness. Joe Rogan is so stupid. Vance mentions pharmaceutical companies wanting people to be on hrt for money and joe goes on a rant about how bad hrt is taking hormones is dangerous and big phama is evil. All the ehile Rogan is litterally taking HRT hgh and test hormones made by big phama and he fucking endorses it when it's in context of him.

So stupid. Its OK when I do it but it's evil when others do it. Watching that ep had me seething.

As long as it's opt in I'd happily give user data to improve ui\ux. But it doesn't seem like it is so good!

And we can predict what will happen pretty well and adapt to the situation dynamically. Our only weakness is that we do stupid shit like drunk driving, speeding and not paying attention.

Be interesting, do cool things and invite someone in to join you. Thats damn solid advice.

People often think their hobbies are boring or to niche and think that no one will care about them. But passion is infectious and by sharing things you think are interesting you will eventually find someone who wants to share it with you.

Growing up is hard. My dad was my hero, now im older and I can see all the flaws he has. When you have a drunk in the family it's so hard to balance keeping yourself safe and helping them. My dad managed to give up alcohol at 60 and now he's 2 years sober. I couldn't be prouder of him for it.

What a glowing review. When I see these articles I always expect that they will experience one issue and give up or treat their posts exactly like the old platform and be disappointed when it's doesn't work.

Lemmy does pretty much everything I want from this medium of communication. Wishlist features would be:

  • A better way of linking posts, I see that there is an extenstion that fixes this issue but it would be nice for new users if this was built in
  • Account migrations
  • Multi Communities
  • A way to assign a #tag to a community. For example If I make c/MMA then I would want every post there to federate with the tag #MMA and every post tagged #MMA to show up in c/MMA
  • A way of scheduling posts within lemmy.
  • Maybe a little icon that shows where things are being posted from. So if I see a user with a mastodon showing up in the feed with a formatting mistake ill know why.
  • An option to follow a thread so you can be notified of all new comments even when its not your thread.
  • It would be nice for instances to have a monthly server cost that tracks donations. I couldnt find any examples except reddit but something like this sitting in the sidebar would help show users how much these stuff all costs. There could be one for instances and development cost goals.

The new assests look so good. I'm not gonna buy it because i've moved over to cs2 and I hate building on mountains. But its cool to see content still being released for cs1 since its probably still a better city builder than cs2.

Ah fuck this is such a hard read to much emotion. What a beautiful thing the internet is. Reading this kind of unblackpilled me a bit and reminded me of the relationships and realness that are experienced online in virtual worlds.
