Is anyone surprised? No? Didn't think so.

Saskatchewan does not have "off-peak" electricity pricing because Saskatchewan runs our power grid on old Coal plants. So not only does it get cold enough for heat pumps to not be sufficient here (even during the day sometimes), our electricity is not a green option either. Natural gas heating makes more sense here in Saskatchewan and it pains me to say that. Until such time as we get a green grid (get rid of the coal), natural gas heating is the best option for us.

Edit to add: I will gladly continue to pay the carbon tax because of 2 things: 1. I get more back on the rebate than I spend (my provincial premier is full of it) and 2. If some of that money from the tax goes to green initiatives, then I gladly support that.

Public Libraries are important. Period.

The biggest thing to practice at first is tension. If you are yanking the yarn tight, it will make the rest of the work on the project far more difficult and require a lot more force from your wrist. Looser tension and a more relaxed posture in general will reduce strain. But it really just comes with practice. You'll get there if you stick with it and find your own rhythm and way to hold your yarn that works for you.

And still no word on any plans to ensure houses are bought by people who don't already own a whole bunch of investment properties.

Until we address that issue, building more will continue to make the rich richer. But this is to be expected of the politicians whose lobbyists consist of real estate investors.

The problem is if it is too cold for too long, things break. When I've experienced long durations of extremely cold weather, things get bad.

Ice accumulates inside, vents freeze over, cars don't start, etc. It's not good.

I've not used it personally (I use Plex), but I have heard great things about Jellyfin. Does it maybe have the feature you need?

As long as it's optional.

I am so sick of algorithmic crap it's not even funny. As long as I can turn it off, then by all means, develop away.

During the next federal election this will be my “single issue” that will determine who I vote for.

This should read PROVINCIAL election. Housing policies are the jurisdiction of the provinces. If you think the Premiers are going to tolerate the Feds mucking around in something they perceive as THEIR jurisdiction, there will be a big fight over it. Take this to your Premier, it's their wheel-house.

We used to have them. They were called Crown Corporations and were in the hands of the provinces that they resided in. However, almost all of them have been sold to private companies instead of being maintained as publicly/government owned services. Saskatchewan still has a few left, but there is a push within the Sask Party to sell them out from under the province.

I dislike Apple due to their user-hostile business practices. They don't let you install alternate browsers or keyboards (TRULY alternate and not just re-skins of Safari and the iOS keyboard). They don't let you sideload (officially). They don't want you to interface with other phone manufacturers in an equitable way (see the whole blue bubble/green bubble drama). They don't want you to have the freedom to repair your own devices (see the whole right to repair movement).

And so on and so forth. They are nice products and do what they are supposed to with minimal friction. I just cannot support a company that is so blatantly user-hostile.
