Lemmy is an improvement on Reddit, but imo not by much. There really is no innovation on the fundamental concept of subreddits/communities. The issue with Lemmy is that I've come across so many promising communities that quickly die off after the initial spurt of activity. I wonder if there is a better organic way to grow the "online discussion" from some form of general cespool, that can segementize only later when those needed segments (communities) emerge naturally.

The battery has "Pb" written on it, so I assume it's lead battery.

Might as well use a bike instead. Or an e-scooter.

If you play D&D through Discord video group call, is it then a video-game?

I got many apps installed. I don't keep in my memory what I have. How do I check that I don't have any from those compromised?

Also fun fact - you can make a gun ineffective and safe just by welding shut its barel.

In nuclear chemistry elements beyond Plutonium do not occur in nature and are synthesized artificially. Is it a similar case for Higgs boson too?

If so, how does it give mass to particles if it doesn't exist? Did scientists create Higgs at LHC in 2011 just to make sure our universe exists through some kind of circular causation?

I'm obviously not understanding this properly. Please dispel my misunderstandings with reasonable explanations!

I don't think they know how volume calculations work. When I read 1000 Capybaras, I though "huh, that's not actually that big", until they say it's actually the diameter or that much capybaras.

EDIT: I did some pocket calculations and it seems like 1000 capybaras can fit into an around 13 capybara diameter sphere.

It's wholesome and gives the sport a balance. Only psychopaths would watch people beat each other without occasionally embracing in a warm loving hug.

I wanted to check if the community I was about to post in already had a similar post. When I selected that community in the search page and typed in the keywords, I still got the results from other communities and instances.

EDIT: Solution: There is a hidden sidebar, which you access by swiping from left. There's Anonymous on top if you're not logged in. You click that and have an option to add an account.

So far for me the process is very convoluted:

  1. I go to https://browse.feddit.de/ and find the community.
  2. Then I need to copy it's name.
  3. Then I need to go to my particular instance (lemm.ee)
  4. Then I type manually in my browser address bar lemm.ee/c/
  5. Then I go back to https://browse.feddit.de/ and copy the address of the original instance of the community.
  6. Then I go back and add the original instance address to already typed thing in step 4 like this lemm.ee/c/@
  7. Then I can finally subscribe!

Oh my God! Please, tell me there's a better way of doing this!

EDIT: There is a better way! Solution is to ... use the search function in your instances home page and select community (if it exists already) and search. This way I don't need to go to browse.feddit.de anymore. And links will take me straight the the communities "reflection" in my own instance, where I can subscribe.

Can this be instantly achieved? Or is it inevitable that this process of reaggregation into single community will continue for a long time (months or even years)? Let's discuss!

I personally am not a mod of any subreddit. I just had this question arise in my brain.
