not to me. Sure there are some great folks but the population is large and there are equally great folks out there. We need being a politician for a bit to be an accessible thing. We definitely need guardrails for quid pro quo but if guaranteed lifetime political is the solution its not a solution. Our system should work if everyone is one termer. Heck I would like every election to have a recall ballot were the electorate can vote to recall any position they vote for. If it cresta 50% of the electorate then the position goes up for election at the next election.

economies were more cyclical then though and there we were at the height of social safety nets. In addition there was progress in societal things (civil liberties) and efficiency gains were reflected in pay. I mean what we have today is just nuts. The 2008 drop pretty much went down to the 2000 one as far as low point and outside of the market it has not been good at all except ironically for a blip around covid. 25 years is justs a nuts timespan. The great depression and ww2 were just a few years. During that time even just after the housing crash the prices were not as affordable as they were back then and honestly housing is such a major part of everyones life that it just dwarfs any other economic thing in a persons life with maybe health insurance being a competitor. I mean times were tough and yeah in some cases the mom had to pick up a job but it is nothing like the everyday reality of the last quarter decade.

Its something they should have put into the original consitution. They were never supposed to be careers. Given the terms of the various branches they should have maxed 12 years in any federal role besides judicial and that should have had a retirement cut off of 60.

These time periods are rediculous in the computer age. Heck I can't believe every 2 weeks is still standard. It should be daily.

I mean thats great but it should not be allowed any more than any presidential law break is allowed. The solution is not to go with it and also do it.

From my youth im used to some credits at the start. The big stars and such, but then the comprehensive list after. I have never known the comprehensive list to occur before the movie.

Eyup. I don't vote for democrats that can win either. That to me is what really sends the overton window right. Its unacceptable to me to allow a republican to win an election at this point so the primaries to me are the time to get progressive.

I don't see that as a fix. A third term for either would be a higher level constitutional crisis than all the many ones trump has already initiated. Many failed like with his first impeachment for misappropriating federal funds to bribe a foreign official.

life and death just is and it does not matter if death is good or bad given its nature. Lifes quality though is important and if it does not have enough of it then I will have none of it. Im old enough though that im not looking to survive a horrible decade of facism. Surviving auschwitz if your young enough to possibly enjoy some decades of decentness afterwards is one thing but if your old enough that after that experience you are left with nothing and have to try and "retire" and look after your increasingly failing health. Ill skip that.

I always associate hippies with environmentalism and sexual freedom. You don't want that???

Thats just the two parts of enshitification. take away things you like and push things you don't. I still can't believe how bank sites can be so limited in what you can do but hey heres a useless feature we give so all good.
