This person has clearly never interacted with a bird before. These dinosaurs are clearly capable of thinking, feeling, and voicing their opinions. Of course, the same applies to farm mammals. Just because we're... More resourceful doesn't mean we have to subjugate everything that's "inferior" to us. That sounds like 'ye olde "they don't need equal rights because they're just savages".

Regardless, we don't have workers from our own country willing to work in places like this. Instead we get people from Uzbekistan who spend all their life savings for a better life here only to quit on day 1 and try to go back home after witnessing the horrors of poultry farming.

Banned practices or not, factory farming, resulting from the demand to eat meat daily, is simply cruel, unsustainable, and oftentimes sadistic (to the animals AND workers)

Sadly they only do phonecall orders and the closest I could find to an online store is a facebook page. I'm fairly certain they've been doing this since Soviet times when needlepoint was a very popular pastime (still is among older people, young people would rather cross stitch or crochet). I wouldn't be surprised if the people doing this are past retirement age and not the most tech savvy. Also judging by the price tags on the mouline it might have been manufactured last century as I can't see any way for a skein to be sold for 0.05$ in today's money. It's also thinner than DMC so I work in 2 strands even though the aida is about 24-26ct.

Jeremiah Lamenting the Destruction of Jerusalem.

I'm not religious or the type of person to do this type of projects but I really liked the kit when I saw it in my local sewing shop so I had to buy it. It's not going to look as good as the painting but I wanted a big project. The materials are locally produced and the company is also local and rather small (the quality is rather shoddy but it's not too bad). The purchase also supports the small shop, which I adore.

Started a new project. This will take more than a year for sure. Full coverage of a Rembrandt painting done in needlepoint. Wanted to start the new thread but I had some federation issues from Mastodon.

Oh wow, they look fantastic! Hope you feel better soon!

I like the idea! I was thinking of doing a cross stitch like that...

if only it wouldn't trigger my climate anxiety. It's enough that we have late March temps at the end of December. I literally keep my windows open at home during the day.

Alright, I switched to voyager and everything resolved. It seems to work fine now after they rolled out a bunch of updates. It needs some getting used to but I wasn't happy with jerboa anyway. It was less of a lemm.ee issue and more of devs not updating their fdroid release on time.

I decided to volunteer as a mod. I've never been one but I imagine it's not a full time job modding a community like this like you said. My timezone is UTC+2 (Helsinki, Kiyv, Riga, Sofia, Talinn, Vilnius).

Look, I am considering it. I have some serious issues with Lemmy lately, especially after the new update that broke jerboa for me. Even after updating the app it still barely works. Rest of the apps seem to make my phone freeze for whatever reason. I'll try sorting that out and consider volunteering!

Fantastic work! I mean at the rate I stitch which people say is fast that would take me...

pulls out calculator

About two weeks and that's if I stitch every day.

Beginner friendly, yes, but it requires the patience of either somebody really determined to finish it before they burn out, or someone more experienced who doesn't struggle with common issues that slow them down.

In fact, my first attempt was something as large as this with large solid blocks of colour and I struggled. Hard! The results were dreadful. I'm surprised I didn't quit back then!

Fancy! Is the green part of the present stitched with the annoying floss? Because it looks gorgeous!

Made it! It was delicious! You could really feel the wine in there.
