Yeah, it's implemented very poorly, especially since as you have discovered, VPN's completely bypass it and sites like reddit are "acceptable" apparently.
The default is for 18+ content to be restricted by UK mobile networks, you will have to contact your network customer service and ask them to remove the restrictions.
I sincerely hope that this is satire/ a shitpost otherwise.... SMH

I've just finished deleting the past 9+ years comment and post history on my account, I'm just waiting until I have copied some of my saved stuff elsewhere then I'm deleting my account. Fuck Reddit and the cesspit it has become.
A little sad and a lot salty, my main account got suspended by reddit in retaliation for actions taken as a moderator and got totally ignored by members of the mod relations team and their oh so smugly named "anti evil operations" drones.
