I don't think you can call it a culture but propaganda to justify their personal greed and neoliberal policies. Basically sociopathy as an ideology for the elite, dressed up as "whatever" for the masses.

The F-droid app is complete garbage, also they don't make it easy to install apps that are open source but don't follow GPL. Obtainium is perfect, just point to git repository. Now all we need is a P2P source control service.

Saying Russia's rationale is supported by evidence like the NATO chief saying that and lots of other "non pro Russia" leaders. Just because it's a "banned" opinion in mainstream (not political correct) doesn't make it false, or make one a tankie, or pro-Russia.

The problem is if you do not accept different viewpoints there is no space for negotiations or peace agreements, only questionable and bloody victory. And that little trick is the real 1984 for me, not the shit MAGA is pulling off. The entire mainstream and "left" have swallowed this narrative and attack anyone with different opinions with personal attacks, even if they have clear evidence supporting their opinions.

I feel the same. Besides what you mentioned, there is also the effect on what news and content will be produced and shown (see Manufacturing Consent). The advertisers who are the customers of shows want the viewers in a buying mood. So while "if it bleeds it leads" works fine but controversial topics that disturbs people or make them think will not be shown.

Best example is youtube - once the demonetization came there must have been significant effects on what topics were discussed and how. Without sponsorings and patreon it would be worse, but this or rule is shaping our global civilization for the worse.

People pay far too much attention to ideology, but it's the rules of a system that lead it to converge to different outcomes. And advertising is a big one.

Only like 3.5% of the world's population lives in the US. So if you happen to live in a country that has been negatively affected by US foreign policy in the last 50 years and don't much care what happens to people inside the US right now, or what labels and pins they put on their jackets, yeah there is little difference between red and blue. Like if you ignore what ideological they profess to and simply look at their actions on other countries.

Empathy can be "disabled" though certain ideology or religion. Saying such radical things like "no difference" is an attempt help people snap out of this "sociopathic trance". Or at worst an attempt to mock or scold you for defending an imperialist regime that has caused countless deaths and immense suffering over the last 7 decades.

Obviously this is futile. And lemmy is much more pleasurable when blocking such people.

If you imagine some kind of multi year "relationship education" instead of just sex ed where all kids at ~14 learn about pathological psychology and all the ways people can manipulate you or fuck you over I imagine it would be far less off a problem.

No somthing more than just "mere" syntax highlightinng or prettifying like e.g. in VS Code. Being able to change line height for a "headline" when you declare a new class. Or maybe lines that illustrate how a temp variable is used. But it's all vague ideas and I can't picture or describe it well and you'd have to demo this with a graphical design tool I think.

Is there some language or "syntax formatter" that turns source code into something more off a visual programming language? Like a WYSIWYG markdown editor.

Like python doesn't have curly braces, but you could add some kind of "block illustration".

Or you could have illuminated initials for variable names to make them more unique.

I believe most image generating models are too small (like only 4GB RAM). Deepseek R1 is 1.5TB ram (or half or quarter that at reduced precision) to get some semblance of "general knowledge". So to get the "semantics" of an image right, not just the "syntax" you'd need bigger models and probably more data describing images. Of course, do we really want that?

Yeah neoliberals... the reason they want that is to get cheap laborers. Can't believe they are so brazen about it.

I think ultimately we need to design an economic system that allows less work and less consumption. You want those outsourced jobs to come back but done by robotics. Coming back to stop needing to ship them halfway across the world, wasting energy. But we need to have a clear(er) vision to what we want to transition to. Like a partially planned and circular economy that covers the basic needs (food, living space, education, news, healthcare) for everyone for free. Otherwise there is nothing to believe in.

If this doesn't go through, impeach him again and more protests. Again and again and more.
