Well, did he get his phone?

r/changemyview is one of those "fascist gateway" subs, or at least one of the subs that I suspect as that. The gateway works by introduing "controverial" topics which are really fascist but they get upvote because "look at this idiot!". But slowly it moves the overton window and gives those people who actually do believe in inequality a space to grow in. Opinions that are racist, anti-feminist, anti-trans, ultra-nationalist, authoritarian or generally against equality and justice.

Reddit was slowly boiled over the last decade like a frog.

And you can be absolutely sure that not only researchers are researching this for science, there are plenty of special interests that do this. It really started with climate change denial.

You can predict what likely happens next: more neoliberal policies and degradation of quality of life. In one of the next election the fascists take over Canada. They never learn.

Weirder? Interesting, like how for example?

But as far as I can remember, you can't administer the rooms in a space as one. Like you need to be invited into each separate room.

Not saying that you couldn't add that, I'm saying they don't seem to want to "do what discord did". Which is a bummer since the success of discord clearly shows what would be needed.

PS: It's fine to do that as a UX design choice, more like IRC. But the issue is that people like you (no offense) say it's the same when it isn't. Like not even understanding what the problem is.

Sorry don't know, I only see it in the settings of the default webUI

The US will not allow them to take Taiwan, too much at stake. Doubtful we’ll initiate.

But the US already did since Biden. They named Taiwan an "important strategic military partner" which goes much further. Basically the US is putting it's finger on the map halfway around the world right in front of China's doorstep and saying "this is ours" while China says it is theirs. Obviously Taiwan DID belong to greater China and even though I don't especially support reunification it's a slap in the face. Instead of letting sleeping dogs lie.

It's always the press and people portraying the US has not doing anything but inviting countries into their military alliance. It's dangerous warmongering. Yes, and the same happened in Ukraine.

I can see the opinions after another proxy war breaks out, oh those evil Chinese devils / yellow orcs! Appeasement doesn't work, they want to gobble up all the world like Hitler!

Hopefully China is smarter or the USA collapses before that can happen.

Reading the headline I thought this would be about something space related, like unfolding solar sails.

And if it could distinguish better, it could also generate better.

No clue haha but that is a neat idea. Also my explanation probably wouldn't really explain centrifugal force to offset the hubble tension.

There was also a scishow or spacetime video about how gravity can be seen as an emergent property of "time / causality is slower the nearer the gravity well", and that is how gravity works. To truly understand it you have to understand the math and how to solve it, afaik our explanations are all rather imaginary. So you could probably interpret the math to mean that this "spacetime bulging" is the result of a spinning universe.

The bigger question is: Where is the rest of the matter that spins in the other direction? It should have perfectly canceld each other out! (like matter and antimatter also didn't)

And today you could build one that has like a micro washing machine / mangle / dryer combo integrated.

I've been wondering about this too. Besides the good answers given here, I suspect / speculate that it also has to do with a national pride after the opium war. Even though China didn't manage to fully shake off the corruption of the elites then or now, there is a strong desire to make the country better and to invest in education, research, prosperity and healthcare. Because that was how their enemy the British Empire beat them. Like they believe in something other than money.

They also avoided entering an arms race with the US. Maybe they were (seen as) less ideological. They saw themselves as Chinese instead of "Sovjiets".

Then you also need to be clever with how to deal with foreign propaganda influence. You can't have a free press if you're on the US radar.

Maybe the answer is as simple as "they had better / stronger leaders" while USSR was too repressive / purged any opposition.
