Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Maquiladora
NAFTA
No great single resources for Nike / Child Slavery but... just search for it there are too many to link
I really shouldn't have to link to the environment, right?

Even the history of this is fascinating. This is the "Moses Bridge", and it's a renovated part of the old dyke system that was used to prevent attacking armies from getting in - because the dykes and levee's had blocked the sea so effectively, they realised they could stop attackers by... flooding them out. Literally.

When it came to renovate this area, they wanted to provide access without denigrating the fact it was an old defensive structure, hence this unique sea-level bridge.

That's fair enough. I didn't read it as "initiating a discussion", more "get off my lawn". That may, however, be me - I'm coming off my meds and it's making me grumpy.

I appreciate your point, however - if you wish for this series of communities to succeed, it needs to be welcoming to newcomers. And one of the ways of doing that is allowing for a continuation of conversations that were on the source communities - including, "Oh, we're getting out", "Why it's so bad", "Where do we go to", "How do we make the new community look/feel like I'm used to", etc. etc.

I'm happy to see this because it means that a corrupt and non-people-focussed environment is losing members. Like anything, it will pass, but please don't push people away by making them feel unwelcome.

That's the one - thanks, I'd forgotten where it was and didn't read your comment before putting mine in place

I've updated the Deck to 'main' release channel 3.5, though technically that's "tinkering", but - it makes a much wider list of things work really, really well. Currently playing through XenoBlade Chronicles and Breath of the Wild (Switch versions) and both seem to play really, really well. I don't have the framerate display on, I've not tweaked power settings or anything, I just run them...

The SMT improvements I believe are in the 3.5 main-branch release, so that's probably why... seems to work well.

Yeah, there are. There are places that don't use CICD, don't use TDD, don't consider DDD beneficial, don't like to have development teams talk to product/sales/users directly... all of these are massive, horrible red flags.

I'll second the Spigen case, it's really nice feeling, while being slim enough to work with the official carrying case. Also their screen protector works really well, and takes that stupid anti-glare fuzz off the 512GB model, so it's a nice smooth screen again :D (Yeah, that's very, very opinionated, but it's my opinion. Won't work if you like the fuzz, get another screen protector :D) The Spigen protector was also stupidly easy to fit - basically, if you cock up a Spigen install using either their EZ Fit or GAStR Align Master brands, you've really, really rushed it and haven't reviewed any of the docs or the install videos, because they're amazingly easy to install.

I've got a powerful desktop computer, but I also have a 6 year old daughter and very little personal time. Grabbing the deck and playing alongside / with (for instance, both of us playing Minecraft, me on the deck, her on the PS5; or her playing on the PS5 while I play separately on the Deck) is a big thing. Also I have been emulating a lot, as she's stolen my switch so I can play on that. It's nice to be able to whack headphones in and game for 10 or 20 minutes in bed before sleep... Honestly, it broke and had to be RMA'd, and I missed it so much because the 'instant on' play for a few minutes is just so addictive...

I use it for emulation, (up to PS3 / Switch level works perfectly with a beta 3.5 OS with the SMT fixes), AAA gaming (Hogwarts legacy worked perfectly for the screen size at medium), old games, indie games, GamePass streaming, PS5 streaming...

It was a birthday present that I thought I'd use a reasonable amount. However, it's almost taken over my gaming time because even if I want to run something too powerful for the deck, I often don't want to sit infront of my home office PC (As I spend all day there working) and I can just stream from the PC using SteamLink / Sunlight:Moonlight... It's basically only when I want to play at full-screen 4K and have a few hours to myself I bother to game on the PC.

I've been using Sync for many years, and I'll be switching over. I started with sh.itjust.works, and have moved to kbin.social because it supports a proper OAuth login process... I've read some people suggesting that kbin is a slightly differnet API than other federation sources, but... if it takes time, I'll wait, no worries. Or I'll create another account somewhere else... I think porting accounts and such is something that needs to be better handled, as does such a lot of the UI across all the different federation instances, but hopefully that's something Sync can handle :) Thanks for your hard work, and you can guarantee that if you offer it, I'll be going lifetime subscriber again. Totally worth it.
