I believe the American side has severely underestimated the rupture they’ve caused with Canada. Canada has done everything the US has wanted for decades and gets this as a reward. There’s no repairing this, there’s a full blown consumer boycott of American goods going on right now.
That’s exactly the plan. Tariffs pay for his income tax plan, but they’re inflationary. He’s afraid the fed will raise interest rates as a result, so he’s going to cause mass unemployment by firing most of the federal government.
Hope he responds with building a wall on his southern border to keep Americans out as their country crumbles from the top down

He's going to 1) raise tarrifs, which will drive inflation (along with other inflationary moves like cutting taxes for the rich) but 2) massively cut federal jobs, which will raise unemployment. The fed has a dual mandate of maximum employment as well as price stability, so he's hoping they will prioritize employment and cut interest rates.
