One of their ideas is allow private match/self hosted online services for any game that shuts down it's servers.

For a game widely considered to be one of the best I find it surprising Valve hasn't just yeeted dlc at us over the years of new content. I don't need a story, I just need coop fun. Weird since there's been SO MANY fan made mods.

I've had a few drivers do this in the US and it has always been a huge cost savings. Uber gives a smaller and smaller cut the the drivers from what I'm hearing. I miss the early days when rides were cheap, driver kept the lions share of the fare and no one was expected to tip.

My local muni used to have 3 courses. They closed 1 in 2019 and have left it open to the public as a park with no maintenance going into the greens. There are 5 miles of cart paths, now trails, and it connects to an adjacent park with an additional 2 miles of trails. The golf course is barely recognizable and it has been really cool to see it slowly getting reclaimed by nature. There are a significantly larger amount of birds, small mammals, and deer seen there than even just two years ago. I rarely take pictures there but here are a couple that do a decent job at showing how little it looks like a golf course anymore. Both pictures were taken this year.

I love MLS season pass as a season ticket holder. You get I'm a fan willing to pay to watch my team. I love watching other teams play. I got into MLS watching other teams and the league and the sport.

However with this new league wide requirement of 730 local Saturday kickoffs I rarely get to actually watch any other team than my own.

On home game days I may get home to watch the second half of left coast games.

MLS needs to spread out games. 2, 3, 4 games a week and spread the times out so I can actually watch other teams.

Ok I'm out.

I was curious about the Buffalo Wild Wings story mentioned. Basically BDubs is calling boneless white meat chicken breast 'boneless wings'. Wing meat is more expensive and BDubs has been charging wing prices. Lawsuit makes sense.

Glad to see these lawsuits coming more frequently. We've all ordered a burger or pizza that looks nothing like the advertised image.

Our immune systems are both one of the most fascinating things about us and for those with autoimmune issues like myself, the most annoying. Always good to see articles like this and I'm glad this focused on the actual science.

I'd love to sign up for the trial if they ever test it for vitiligo. There are wayyy more serious autoimmune issues that can and should be tested first for those truly suffering. Mine is just "hey look at weird color boy".

Return that immediately. I worked for gamestop for about 6 years from 11-16. It was a horribly run company that should be a relic of the past like circuit city and blockbuster. Executive management would rather make tiny profits than make pro-consumer changes that would draw in gamers (things like tournaments were actively discouraged).

I really hated that gamestop became a meme stock. It meant executive made a lot of money from no effort on their own. I would have much rather seen their shares go to zero and then get bought for pennies on the dollar, leaving the top brass on their ass.

Did you get your personal data stolen through the equifax breach? I got about $8. The total settlement was $30 million iirc. Equifax reported $209 million in earnings last quarter.

These settlements aren't meant to punish the culprit. They're paltry excuses for justice by a system that will enrich the attorneys involved in the case, allow the company to make back their losses in literal days with no real punishment, and leave those actually by impacted their negligence with pennies.

All I've seen since carbon offsets became a thing is how a lot of the projects were either ineffective or outright scams. The idea itself doesn't incentivise the large carbon producers to actually reduce their emissions, but simply pay to say they are carbon neutral so they can slap it on their website for some positive pr.

I originally read this as "what are you nostalgic about" and was confused by all the responses.

I am certainly not nostalgic about smoking sections in restaurants. Those half ass dividers that did nothing and the whole place smelling like an ash tray was not fun.

It seems to be public knowledge. I hadn't heard of this either. Yet another in a long line of companies doing shitty things and I'm sure a lot of money spent to make sure this didn't become household knowledge.

Chinese kids going to be walking around with 8 smartphones like some of those people early in the Pokemon Go days. Long Huawei.

I was wondering where everyone went to get news, reviews, trailers, etc. IGN has always left a bad taste in my mouth with their seemingly bias reviews. I used to go to the gaming, games, Xbox, and a couple other smaller niche subreddits to gather the vast majority of the info. Now I'd like some advice on what others favorite sites are. Bonus points if it has an app. Thanks!

Phones charging use such little power I'd really be surprised if anyone cared. It really depends on the place. A library I would have no issue plugging in anything without asking. I can't say I've ever been at the doctors and considered charging my phone though I may ask out of courtesy if I did simply because I like my doctor. Overall I'd say it wouldn't be a big deal either way.
