For me, nothing. Everything I want to do works without root. I don't tinker with my phone. It doesn't do anything cool anyway and that's what I have a PC for.

I love playing these games. Everyone thinks I am an idiot at poker because I always make stupid bets and give off obvious "tells" in the first few rounds.

People are unbelievably easily manipulated. We were playing a big blind of ten cents and I managed to win twenty dollars in one night.

I think, to an extent, Western-style liberal democracy is never going to work in China. In any big country, it has a nearly universal tendency to turn into oligarchy.

Interpret my comment to mean chattel slavery

Don't be mistaken–being disqualified from standing for election is a restriction on his right to free political speech. However, this is a permissible restriction on free speech because the constitution (Amendment XIV) deems that those who engaged in insurrection should not be able to serve in office.

Trump's argument is similar to arguing that slavery is legal because it says so in the original constitution...disregarding the fact that a future amendment changed that.

Maybe, but remember that the Governor can't just issue whatever new laws he wants. There is a normal legislative process, which means these bills have probably been in the works for weeks or months.

Isn't this already a thing? Notice the "boostforlemmy@lemmy.world" underneath the display name

If that's the case, there's still the option of maintaining a block list locally and filtering content from users on that list client-side. The optimal solution would be to fix it server-side if this is the case but a local filter would achieve the same thing in the meantime

Bitcoin Core went from 0.20.1 to 0.21 to 0.21.1 to 22.0 in 2021. Even though it was completely functional for over a decade at that point and was handling billions of dollars in transactions

Oh yeah. Now I remembered to do this. Thanks for the reminder, OP.

A "couple hundred peers" is a lot easier said than done. That being said, it does happen and you are correct that having a lot of seeders doesn't guarantee a safe download.

All of the three conditions I mentioned are neither sufficient nor necessary for a safe download, but there is a strong correlation. Unless the torrent is official (e.g. official Linux distro torrents), there is always some chance of a bad download. The chance can be low but is never zero.
