Sublime?! What packages are you running with that?

Oooh, don't do the Pinebook Pro. I think anything Pine64 isn't unsuitable for a non-tinkerer to be using. Also, if there's DRM content involved (unsure on Hulu), you'll probably want to stick with an x86 CPU.

Agreed on the latency issues. I tested SMB and NFS once and found them to be pretty much the same in that regard.

I'm interested to test iSCSI, as for some reason I think it might be better designed for latency.

I've found that Dolphin, at least, is much slower with network mounts than a CLI-based "mount".

Are you leaving behind the dotfiles because you don't want to bring over any of your old configuration?

For whatever it's worth, you can remove Snap support from your Ubuntu system. If you want more current software, AppImage and Flatpaks are good for that.

I'm just a passer-by here, but, I have a house with pine siding. It stains fine? Maybe we're not thinking of the same thing.

I've used Benjamin Moore's "ARBORCOAT Translucent Classic Oil Finish" tinted "Natural," as well as on my deck tinted "Cedar." For the sides facing South and West I would ideally re-stain every 3 years it looks like, and it does seem to be getting darker every time I do that.

I had always used this foaming wood cleaner, but one time in a pinch I bought the "normal" ... not-foaming cleaner, and that turned out to be a big mistake. This cleaner didn't clean so much as bleach, then when I put on the transparent stain it just looked like bleached wood. Luckily that was just a shed.

Edit: This is the cleaner - https://www.homehardware.ca/en/4l-2-part-oxygen-deck-patio-and-stone-cleaner/p/1874410

If it's the Kirkland dog food, I think that's actually really good dog food. So, no worries there.

It sounds like they're suggesting most of the businesses they took money back from unintentionally claimed too much. They also said it was the third-parties who assisted with inaccurate claims that they're most interested in. Considering these would be accountants there might actually be some consequences for them that aren't just "bad application? That's a fine."

Considering the chaos and immediate need that these programs were conceived under, I think that the approach of giving money as quickly as possible then following up when the dust settled was the right approach. Like the premise of our justice system - better that some dishonest people have money they don't deserve temporarily than those in dire need go without.

Also, do we know they're not being charged interest?

Yeah, I tried naming the files to help, but then Google Photos doesn't make it easy to see those.

The first picture is the vent outside. Essentially, the hood fan (inside) exhausts into the top of the metal box that's in the wall. On the other side of that box, around the middle, is a vent that goes outside. Then there's just a dead-end area of the metal box where some bugs have collected.

It was built in 2016, but maybe they made some initial mistake. Hopefully that's not it.

I'm not going to be much help ATM, but I believe there is some Google service that allows you to use "foreign" email addresses to log in to a Google account. What that would mean is that you could move your domains away from Google but then keep the Google accounts based on those domains active.

Anyway, fingers crossed I remember about this and actually find the thing I'm taking about and get back to you later today.

Something that I've found that's counterintuitive is that there's more ISP competition rurally than in cities. In a rural setting anyone can slap a radio on a tower and get access to a reasonable number of homes. With 60GHz equipment showing up, the speed isn't terrible either.

This might be true for fibre as well, but you don't see that as much. Our independent ISP has been busy trenching all over the county. Certain towns have direct access, while every one else benefits from fixed-wireless towers having direct fibre connection.

In the city you just can't do direct line-of-sight wireless, and while your customers are more tightly packed, trenching in fibre must be a non-starter for anyone that isn't Telus/Bell/Rogers.
