Oh he is that anti-China? Well that considered not so bad, but still pretty bad.

His comment about chips and computers was especially weird. Like there would not be goods made in socialism? Like it would just end there. Smelled like some latent braimworms about "capitalism and the free market as innovation" and the myth of modernization & capitalism as a whole.

Also disappointed how little he aknowledged the weight of history especially regarding imperialist forces, good on the first commenter to go so hard on that point even though they were clearly nervous in doing so.

The stark difference on the focuses of the panelists did really highlight the different conditions these people are from as well.

Absolutely loved the passion of the first audience commentary on the need to re-center imperialism.

Also found Harveys takes on China to be surprisingly western chauvinist or something. The way he compares things was surprisingly, I don't know how to word this, simplistic? It seems symptomatic of academia as I see similar stuff a lot in my uni reading.

The middle guy was voicing the interesting anxiety Western left academia currently has about the breaking of nation-states and therefore consensus. I just read a whole book that was essentially about the same and also downplayed imperialism (as Lenin frames it). It seems very contradictory as it almost feels like they are pining for the very systems of liberal democracy they at the same time critical of.

Watched the entire discussion. A much better use of my time than just browsing stuff all night, thank you for sharing. heart-sickle

Vijay Prishads comments on imperialism throughout the discussion were brilliant, I look up to him as a guiding light in our times. Oh and, he said the t-shirt was accidental. :D

Yeah I make my own bread now. I did that for a living and now it's turned into a principle, lol.

Pretty sure it was like in 2021-22 when it was always 3 for 10€. Now it's two for 10€ on sale, lol.

I really really dispise how hard Fazer has been able to build the brand on banal nationalism. Not to mention how hard they go on exploiting cheaper manufacturing countries and still have those outrageous prices. The laskiaspulla and runebergintorttu for example are all made in other countries, frozen and then sold here as "fresh". With twice the price of local bakeries.

I could do a huge rant on how Fazer and a few other essentially monopolies have destroyed our bread culture and small bakeries here, but I'll save that for another day.

Fazer? I just saw the boxes today sold at about 6€. Funnily this is also one of the OG fash families (Whites) with firm ties to Germany afaik.

Great post. This is a subject very close to my heart and was lucky enough to be able to take part in some uni courses on these things as well that completely opened my eyes to the problems in gynecology and in the ways medicine has treated people with uteruses.

I also have many personal experiences of this violence, including a badly inserted IUD that bled for a year.

Here is one blog post from a great activist also relating, cw would be medical violence.

There is absolutely a reason why I personally have skipped going for screenings. Love that this is being talked about here.

Also for bags or boxes the box is the same size, but there is about 1/4 less in it. Yet the price is twice as much as before.

Had a look at the Christmas chocolates, same thing with all of them. A box of chocolates is pricier than ingredients for a full meal for a family. Which are expensive too.

"the US doing IMF-style restructuring to itself" is a great take tbh, will steal this and post it to some libs. It really is what this is. heart-sickle

No. At least not where I am.

This just makes me surer that my late 2019 covid was really covid (all the hallmark symptoms) and the only reason it was taken seriously was China calling it out. Or at least it had been brewing a lot longer.

As a mushroom picker this thing right here was my first big issue with the AI grift. It doesn't take a tech bro to understand how these models cannot actually give advice on anything because they make no decisions.

There was a really inreresting study locally on the heuristics of mushroom picking, turns out it's one of the riskiest foraging things we humans do and one where we have culturally developed very efficient and well working precautionary principles. It is a pretty perfect example of how an AI model is not intelligent in any way.

I really hate how they now open with “This was a healthy teenager prior to this, so no underlying conditions."

Meaning that if it was one of the "undesirables" who can't be used by capital, nobody would have to care.

Made soup. It was great.
