For the average Joe, economy doing well means the job market is healthy, robust in the aggregate. All this does is give you the leverage to renegotiate salary/benefits or change jobs.

Regardless how much money your boss makes, even if he makes tenfold from last year, he's not going to voluntarily increase your pay beyond annual adjustments.

At the end, you need to take the initiative to change your income.

This just confirms for me that all the MBAs and executives are completely bias in their decision making. Call it recency bias, exposure bias, they only remember what they heard of being "news" worthy in the company. These "sales" tactics gets your name out there and the bias takes hold accept that self promotion.

Can't wait for AI to come in and answer the question, "if weekly summary report can be automated from emails, which team lead should I put in the PM position, so the project doesn't get fucked up". Oh man, we can do away with so many executive positions.

Cop, "Your Honor, the sandwich is a known lethal weapon, given its track record of choking hazard. Just last week, Joey down at the station, was working OT and eating his favorite meatball sub. That could have been the last time I saw Joey... So, when I saw the sandwich, I immediately recognized the danger and risked my life to control the situation."

Thanks, Biden!

Also to quote another report:
The EPA is proposing that 'forever chemicals' be considered hazardous substances

In June, the chemical manufacturer 3M said it would pay about $10 billion in lawsuit settlements to help detoxify water supplies across the country, after plaintiffs claimed the company's firefighting foam and other products were responsible for contaminating tap water with PFAS.

In a leap forward, the new law supports independent repair and improves consumers’ access to affordable repair options, by introducing rules for reasonable prices for original parts as well as banning software practices which prevent independent repair and the use of compatible and reused spare parts.

Yes, good on you EU.

"It is clear that Iran continues shipment of advanced lethal aid to the Houthis," Kurilla said. "This is yet another example of how Iran actively sows instability throughout the region in direct violation" of "international law."

Iran is supplying them.

Not sorry. You need book smart and street smart to manage a university. You willingly walked into a PR trap and blunted the answer on content and timing. No matter how much prestige you have, it won't save you.

We live in a world of human behaviors, not one of institutional rigor.

Russians engineers are hardcore, they really go all out on systems validation.

Apple may regret picking the Vision Pro name for its new headset, as a rival firm has already trademarked it. And it’s not the only headache Apple is facing.

I'm pretty excited for this game. I don't have a PS5 yet, maybe this Christmas. But if you do, what better way to spend time in the world of Final Fantasy when it feels like the rest of the internet in down.

Looks like someone threw up a tracker checking on subreddit going dark. Live status looks interesting.

Edit: I've been watching this for a while now, can't take my eyes off it. Looks like the next big block of subs is each hour mark with big one at mid-night PST (e.g., California). Gonna be fun 🤡
