It’s been a month without patience since TOTK dropped, and I am working on We Love Katamari Rerolled in between. Will likely resume my patience after I’m done with these but it might be another couple posts before that happens. Interested in what everyone else has been up to though and hoping to contribute to the community and increase engagement!

Love the patient gamers subreddit but considering this community is so large already, I think I might make this my new home regardless of what happens to the subreddit. I hope others decide the same, perhaps we can start getting some good recurring posts and organized content to kick start this place.
In the meantime I’m gonna try and put forth some nice conversations in the comments.
I’m a huge fan of the game, and replay it ever bunch of years. People really criticized it because Sony was getting in on the JRPG craze. It got compared to FF7 and dropped in between FF8 and FF9 which drew a lot of comparisons. But I think you made some great points about what the game did a lot better than its peers. Gameplay was strong.
The addition system was awesome at a time where turn based RPGs were a bit static, and though the characters were a bit cliche I loved the story it told and the world building the game did. I’ve been pining for a prequel set during the dragon campaign. It’s a huge risk and would need a large budget, for a limited audience that even knows the franchise. Still, I think there’s plenty of untapped potential and it could be a big hit.
Lots of iconic parts in that game, very memorable areas and moments. Awesome soundtrack, the menu theme and Bale’s town theme are two songs that I think about and hear in my head to this day.
I’ll never forget my first experience with the series. Mind you this was before the constant bombardment of footage from the internet and media. I recognized the box and read some good things in magazines about how insane the game was, and since it was a budget title figured what do I have to lose? Booting up for the first time and watching the intro video was sublime. It’s been one of my favorite series ever since.
I took a break from TOTK to get into We Love Katamari Reroll, and I’d rank it up there among the best games on Switch. Both it and the first rank high amongst my favorite Switch games and are one of the most unique games around.
In the same vein as Katamari, though nowhere near as good, is Donut County. It usually goes on sale for like $3 and is worth the price just for the experience. Fits basically if Katamari was a hole and instead of the prince you have a raccoon that expands when things fall into the hole. Don’t go in expecting greatness but it’s solid and off kilter, can scratch the itch for something like Katamari if you’ve already experienced them all.
If there is even small scale organized move to Lemmy with the best mods and content posters, there won’t be much to worry about. I’d be more worried about moving too fast and destroying the servers/network effect accelerating with the influx of meme spam. You see what happened to just about every large subreddit becoming a low quality content cesspool perpetuated by the hive mind. I love Reddit but it’s hard to watch communities need to migrate to niche or private subreddits.
Right now I think everyone agrees there is no rea Reddit substitute, so Lemmy is the main landing spot. So long as we don’t get bored here conversing with a smaller population, Reddit doesn’t do a complete about face, and Lenny’s servers don’t crash and burn - I think time will help work things out.
Yeah it’s going to be a small drop in the bucket for some time, but I am pretty optimistic that if the best content creators and mods move over, the rest will too. The best part is the bottom barrel users will remain at Reddit and we’ll relive the glory days before Reddit reached critical mass.
In the meantime I think we are so used to the big subs being awful that we don’t realize the big communities on Lemmy being quality of small subs at Reddit.
There seems to have been a huge drop off and loss of knowledge related to retailer websites. For some reason if you want to buy something at all popular, you need to compete simply to get an order in. There is no longer the concept of back order or first-come first-serve, and it’s maddening. Discovering products has never been worse than it is now. ~~___~~
I somehow missed the entire Mass Effect trilogy, but claimed it on PS+ last year and am planning to run through it during a nice lull. 2023 has been insane so far and one of the few years I have barely been patient. Good chance I might be getting into that one around the holidays so I have a nice chunk of time to get through all 3.
