I don't think a single axis adequately models the system, nor does the US two-party system that attempts to cram everyone into just two buckets.

Well, shoot. I go down a couple times a year for work. That would be a delightful slice of joy to otherwise dull trips.

Ah, but discrimination against Roma isn't racism because they actually are all dirty thieves!

Edit: nvm, OP posts indicate they expect more diversity of political opinions, which might mean they're actually looking for Truth Social instead of Lemmy.

When we were kids, my brother would get mean when bored. Low-grade physical stuff, hard pinches, pulled hair, coming into my room to harass me and break toys, enough to cause pain without evidence if I were to complain. I asked my mom to intervene, she didn't want to deal with it, so she gave me the old phrase, "if you don't know what to do, spit in a shoe and do it again at half past two".

So I spat in my brothers shoe every time he messed with me. And for good measure, I spat in my mom's shoe too for letting him continue to abuse me.

Wait, how do you go from TSA policy on shoes to a supermax prison in Colorado?

[–] Vanth@reddthat.com 2 points 2 days ago

Psh, these people talking about removing one child from the world per year are trolling. This chart obviously means that by continuing to have zero children year over year, I get to drive a fleet of gas-guzzler cars as a reward.

Psh, the Real^TM^ followers of (insert religion here) don't even watch sci-fi because sci fi never addresses how (insert deity/ies of choice here) is/are the bestest thing ever.

When I traveled enough for work to build up frequent flyer status with a single carrier, yes, it was worth it. I picked which carrier to build status with based on routes available from where I lived and where I traveled most often. And candidate carriers were the larger name-brand ones because they had more routes.

As an individual traveling once or twice a year for vacation now, I just go with what's inexpensive, meets my schedule, and doesn't have a shit layover like 30 min or 4+ hours. I don't travel enough to build up a frequent flyer status, which is where perks with any particular airline kick in.

The manager noted such an effort would help “connect” warehouse and corporate teams.

Are they trying to build support among the white-collars for unionization of the blue? I can't think of a better way to boost union support among the white-collars. I hope they get the full experience of having to piss into bottles because break times are too short.

Only 75 out of 287,000 layoffs this year attributed to AI replacement, yet further down, IBM alone has replaced "hundreds" of HR employees with AI. Which is it?

Absolute trash article. Any vague gesture in the direction of a fact is poorly defined with no sources. This should only increase skepticism towards AI replacing writers and journalists.

I start with 1:1 if it doesn't specify, and 2:1 if it says "rich". Often I end up adjusting up from a 1:1 to a 1.5:1 semi-rich.

Watched my coworker move her cursor to the right edge of her right-hand monitor to get it to over to the left side of her left-hand monitor. When I offered to show her how to adjust her display settings, she said she was used to it and didn't want to change it. I don't think I can walk by her desk while she's working ever again.

What have you got?

I'm using Boost for Lemmy on Android and when others post spoiler tags, I still see the text that should be hidden until tapped. Being able to see through spoiler tags is keeping me from engaging as readily with spoiler-filled communities.

Is there any adjustments I can do to fix it or is it something that can only be done at app or instance or Lemmy as a whole level? TY.

Anyone with an Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield plan will soon have to pay out of pocket for anesthesia if a surgery or procedure goes longer than expected, according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

The health insurance provider said they will no longer pay for anesthesia care if a surgery or procedure goes beyond a specific time limit. This will apply to patients in Connecticut, New York and Missouri.

The American Society of Anesthesiologists said Anthem can pre-determine the time allowed for anesthesia, and if an anesthesiologist submits a bill where the actual time of care is longer than Anthem's limit, the company will deny paying for it.

Inspired by a post since deleted, I feel bad for probably coming off judgemental about the poster's taste in the movie that drove him to consider sailing.

The earliest desired media I can remember that drove me to figure out sailing was DC Talk, a Christian rock band. Pop music was not allowed in my house, so a Christian group was tantalizing and scandalous to a rebellious, young Vanth. Things escalated from there.
