I think when we tried it , we had used too much and it watered it down. I think experimenting with the quantity of broccoli and maybe extra sauce would make it delicious though

Yeah i started with hand weeding and being really fucking thorough but it is relentless. Next we tried cardboard and woodchips which helped stall it, but it still came through 2 layers of cardboard and foot of woodchips (i wish i was exaggerating). It especially came through any holes we left for an existing plant.

At this point we're between using black plastic or herbicide, neither are great options. I don't love the idea of herbicide. And black plastic im worried would damage tree roots so ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ but it's out competing everything and we have a bit of a wild garden for the bees, butterflies, etc that id like to continue to provide them a home

I will say we've been cutting off the flowers when we see them. I think that helps. At the very least it makes me feel like I'm actually doing something ๐Ÿ˜…

Edit: Oh and if you do want to keep any plants, you can dig them up, spray off the roots and then grow it in a container until you verify it is free from ground elder. Do not move any plants from an infected bed without doing then or you'll do what the MIL did and transplant ground elder to more beds ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Here's the recipe. Unfortunately i forget which book we got it from. When the notes say 2 big meals that's 2 meals each for us 2 adults (4 total).

Sweet & sour crispy tofu (vegantheoryclub.org)

In my old city there was an all vegan restaurant that has a delicious crispy sweet&sour tofu. This recipe is one we found that is as good as the one i liked from the restaurant!

I'll share recipe in comments

Oh geesh. I can't imagine planting kudzu on purpose lmao. Gotta love people who plant shit without knowing anything about it

Good luck with the seeds! Had to look that one up

I'm feeling really defeated. Few years ago ground elder was introduced to our yard from an adjacent lot. I didn't keep up with it one year and the next year it ran rampant and invaded our favorite garden bed. I spent so much time trying to eradicate it last year, only to find that the MIL weeded it at some point and threw it in the opposite corner. Also she transplanted a plant from an infected bed to a different bed. We now have ground elder every where. This has been a multi year war. Can't use black plastic because I'm scared of harming tree roots but nothing else has worked. If i try to save existing plants when putting down cardboard or mulch then the ground elder comes through there. I'm thinking I'm going to need to cardboard and mulch our entire garden beds and kill even the existing plants just so there's no chance it regrows

If anyone likes eating it, lmk. You can come have a multi-month buffet and would be doing me a favor.

As far as wins, just been fairly productive past few days trying to get stuff off the to do list

Glad you're back!

Ive just been gardening. Didn't seed start a many as id like this year but at least we got some

I don't know what's more sad:

  • the few linked resources i checked didn't list any sources for their claims or data
  • that even if they did, people probably wouldn't care for it.

It's a nice list of resources i guess for new vegans who don't know how to respond to some of the things people ask or claim

My guess would be referring to vegans that dont treat it as a diet. Veganism is a way of life aimed at eliminating animal cruelty and exploitation as a result of your actions and consumption as much as realistically possible. It extends beyond what you eat to also what you buy and how you live your day to day life

Better leftovers than waste. And looks yummy!

Love it! Yeah i think it's amazing what people can do with blender but i just didn't have the patience for it and I'm not the most artistic to begin with lol.

I mentioned in the weekly thread i was going to make sushi for the extended family this week. We made 18 rolls and it was a huge hit! I forgot to take pictures the day of so these were some of the leftovers on day 2, but still delicious!

The rolls are our favorite from a local restaurant and a few years ago we saw the they had shared the recipe here in case anyone is interested in trying it.
