I hate making plans too far ahead because I know myself and know that I'll be regretting it closer to the time and wishing I could just stay in bed. But then I also kinda hate people showing up out of the blue to include me in some event if I haven't planned for it first. So I guess I'm just f'ed up and difficult lol.

I love blues and blues rock, but the lyrics are often full of misogyny, unfortunately.
Same with old school rock and metal. Cocaine and lolitas. Then once hair metal was over, the macho men came in and you've got Metallica going "don't tread on me" like racist rattlesnakes under a boot and Pantera with their secret white power bullshit.
Honestly the only old school rocker I'm ever really in the mood to listen to these days is Alice Cooper. Don't think I've ever come across a track of his glorifying underage groupies or anything.
And it's only really from nu metal onwards that I'm not listening with my guards completely up. The funny thing is, a lot of metalheads shit on nu metal and act like it's a dark period in history. But at least Jon Davis was vulnerable and real and didn't spend his time doing the helicopter and singing about how awesome it is to be popular with little girls.
Easier the older I get. When I was a kid, I'd basically just tan. There were definitely times I overdid it at the beach or something and got burnt but mostly I just went pretty dark. And funnily enough, at that time my hair was also do blonde it was almost white. Now, older and with darker hair lol, I'm still pretty sun resistant but burn a lot easier than I used to too. Especially my face.
Fun fact: I've got a small birthmark on my chest that's the same colour as the rest of my skin. And it can only be seen when I'm tanned because it stays the same colour while the rest of my skin gets darker. Haven't actually seen it years, so I wonder if it's even still there.
I don't actually watch a lot of anime but reading this question, my immediate answer is PSYCHO-PASS. Season 1 is a masterpiece of a story regardless of the medium IMO. Philip K. Dick tier.
Then they carried on with it instead of stopping there. The movie was ok, season 2 was meh and the villain was a bit much. And I haven't even been able to bring myself to watch any other content from it. Not sure I'd want to because I prefer to pretend that sometimes it's about art and not always about money and that they stopped after telling the story they wanted to tell in season 1 without turning it into a franchise.
Ah well, I'm back. I thought I could moderate my own experience out there but as it turns out, this place is run like a forum site from 1999 and I have to rely on admins to pick up for me anyway. So I might as well choose the best admins around. Sorry for temporarily leaving you, Blåhaj. I now see the error of my ways.
I'd love to explore other areas of France
When I was there, apart from trips into Paris, I was staying in a little village about half an hour from Paris called Nozay. Now that was something that you don't just get back home like a big city. Cobbled streets in certain parts, half the buildings are probably as old or older than my country, there's the little town square where everything is from the mayor's office to the bakery to the pub and tobacconist lol. I'd love to visit the French countryside and little villages and stuff again a lot more than I'd like to see a big city again.
Was the Reddit version of this community like this with people coming in to 'both sides' the conversation? I don't think it was like this. Lemmy has a real problem with people just not caring about what the community is before they come in to drop their hot their hot takes. I've even seen people go into !reddit@lemmy.world to complain about people posting about Reddit. I mean, come on.
As for that 18% of violent crimes being committed by women stat, that still means 82% of the perpetrators were men, so that's hardly the pwn it was made out to be. It's grasping at straws to keep ignoring that there's any problem.
I'll also just leave this here:
Yeah, I think it's important to keep an eye on the US but the 24 hour news and outrage cycle built around it is just too much. I feel like in most other countries, they vote every 4 or 5 years and those occasions are the only times that politicians are clogging up the news daily, and we mostly go on with our lives in between. But the US side of it just never fkn stops. Trump has made it especially tiresome because it's been like 10 years straight of his particular clown show now. Every day.
Someone that thinks the world revolves around them detected.
Phil Anselmo, singer of Pantera, in 2016:
And seeing that made me feel stupid for never picking up on the white power undertones in their music before. Honestly it's made me feel something not good about a lot of metal bands in general since, considering that this very year, Metallica, Slayer and Pantera were still happily touring alongside each other as opening acts for Black Sabbath's 20th final tour.
That's fair. Sad that you felt you needed to hide part of you at first but I know how things are, so totally understandable. At this point though, if someone wants to attack you, we've all got your back lol. I'm sure I'm not the only one here that very much appreciates having you around.
And yeah, that is another reason to try different instances. I still want to check that alt community out that I can't see from here. I'm of two minds about this. On one hand I appreciate the level of moderation and protecting users on Blåhaj but on the other hand, I'm not against deciding for myself and doing my own blocking and moderation
This whole year so far, it's been The Gathering - Shot to Pieces for me. It's not even a new song I discovered, I first heard it when it was new on a Metal Hammer compilation CD. But it's just been speaking to me this year. The lyrics, the vibe, the sound, everything. It's the song in my soul currently.
