They told us that painting the Palestinian flag was forbidden, but also the colours were forbidden. So Issam said, ‘What if I were to make a flower of red, green, black and white?’, to which the officer replied angrily, ‘It will be confiscated. Even if you paint a watermelon, it will be confiscated.’

When you predict a new phenomenon from a current model, either you've opened the door to the discovery of this new phenomenon or you've demonstrated a shortcoming in the model. Both are useful to science.

I understand the Dodo and Thylacine—colonialism has been a disaster for ecosystems around the world and restoration is very much desirable—but why the woolly mammoth? What possible benefit could come from destroying the ecosystems we've had for millennia to replace them with a facsimile of the ice age?
