Thanks for all the tips. Luckily it’s a private school, so I’ll let them know and propose the options you mentioned

A local university has gone full austerity mode in the last two years, firing staff, forcing their work onto others, reducing department budgets, all the while hiring more executives and middle managers. This has pissed off pretty much all of its faculty, from adjuncts to department heads. Now Texas may be a right to work state, but these profs are in a unique position where a lot of them has tenure and the university will have a difficult time firing them, which is why they’ve opted to making conditions worse so that the profs will quit themselves. The remaining faculty wants to do something besides sending anonymous complaints that get ignored, but they’re floundering. Is there a union/adjacent org that they can turn to for guidance?

No, their first team building exercise was splitting into groups and completing a puzzle together. His group did not finish.

A fair distinction, but on the other hand, I’m friends with someone with a marketing degree, and they were doing puzzles and coloring in their senior level classes.

Stainless steel has to be seasoned much like cast iron, so as long as I’ve oiled it well and cooked with it often, I haven’t had many stickiness issues. Cast iron has its place in my kitchen, but it’s so heavy I can’t flip the pans, and takes so long to heat up it’s relegated to slow cooking.

I’ve simply not had good luck with it. All the pans I find at the thrift store are decroded nonstick and really rusty, which I question the sanitation of even after I’ve cleaned them. If I happened upon a 100 year old cast iron or AllClad I would snatch it up.

Clean everywhere you can think, you’d have no idea how much grime is hiding on walls and inside cabinets from past people. Some reusable rags, hot water and a little dish soap in a spray bottle works in 95% of cases.

Get some plants and paintings, and use warm lighting from windows and lamps over ceiling lights.

If you don’t have pots and pans already, get stainless steel. They’re more versatile than nonstick and you don’t have to worry about carcinogens. Tremontina is a good brand. Also get some knives and a good knife sharpener, and multiple cutting boards to separate meats and veg.

Try to thrift pretty much everything. The only thing I’m iffy on is the aforementioned cookware.

Watch that feng shui guy on YouTube. He’s got good analysis on furniture placement and home decor.

Need an obscure book that’s not on the go-to sites and I’m not paying 60 bucks lol

Just broke my wrist, and it takes me like 10x as long to type anything. I had been looking into written alternatives for a while, and this blew me over the edge. I like the Remarkable 2, but I don't think I can justify that much on a device that can only read and write documents without trying one out first. The other option people keep recommending to me is an ipad. I don't have one of those either, but I've used one with a paper screen so at least I know how that feels. My biggest problem with the ipad is the opposite of the Remarkable, there are too many apps and I have no idea which to use. So what apps do you use, if any, or do you use another thing entirely?
