Allow me to just simply say DON’T DO IT. DON’T FUCKING DO IT. There are very few examples of regretting something you haven’t tried but this is one

From The Verge’s obsequious article:

Recall won’t work with every Windows 11 computer. You’ll have to buy one of several fresh new “Copilot Plus PCs” powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X Elite chips, which have the neural processing unit (NPU) required for Recall to work.

THIS IS NOT CURRENTLY RUNNING ON MY WINDOWS COMPUTER, right?

This obvious first question hasn’t been clarified (maybe by one comment in this thread, but not in the article)

Fun fact, in the Arabic alphabet it starts out Alif and Ba just like alpha and beta here, and then veers way away from this chart into its own awesomely weird territory (thought German was “guttural”? try this nonvowel nonconsonant so far back in the throat you need consent and a physician’s referral) but JUST when you think you’ve lost your way, RIGHT the alphabet nears its end, you stop and stare because right there are four letters, in this same exact order, so familiar it might be a song you learned as a child: the letters K L M N.

The Phoencians took this invention to other places too, and this cluster of familiarity crystallised in the Arabic alphabet in the same order. Almost like a gene we could point to that says we had a common ancestor centuries ago, we were once so close that we learned the same thing from the same people.

Yeah it got nasty WHEN CLARENCE THOMAS PUT HIS OWN PUBIC HAIR ON A COKE CAN. True story. Look it up. I still believe Anita Hill

This is good news and it’ll be better news when I see a father getting nailed for giving his sons guns

I had already uninstalled Creative Cloud but its zombie folder was still there. (Win11/64bit/most recent updates.) Looked for hours, tried tons, nothing would work. Maybe for you Adobe's unPinCCF tool would work, or using regedit to set System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree to 0 would - but not for me.

TLDR (thanks, Aubrey and Bortao) Delete the following registry key (after making a backup of your registry ofc):

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\0E270DAA-1BE6-48F2-AC49-5CE0DBECC398

Bortao reports- "The last part of the number is random, so open Regedit and browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace, find a key starting with 0E270DAA-1BE6-48F2-AC49 and remove it." Me, I found it by Ctrl-F and looking for "creative cloud files" until I landed on that one. Deleted it, rebooted, GONE.

This is NOT the only thing that worked for other people, so I should post my notes from this long trek, maybe one of the simpler paths might work for others

We can’t update games or refactor code to make it smaller bc our bosses demand we constantly work harder, better, faster, stronger. They force us into games that require more expensive hardware bc the entire tech industry depends on people upgrading every other year. And it’s online constantly bc we hoover up player data for our new profit centre where we sell all your data.

And now they made a meme that deflects blame off them and onto devs, who have way more contact w the public than anonymous rich people

Loom alternatives / help? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Loom alternatives? Recording a demo here. Desktop app dies often, only a reinstall gets it going again briefly. (Win11, VPN or not, permissions all set, HDR unchecked.)

Web app won’t show my camera on VSCode or Git, only the Loom site. That part is vital 🤷‍♂️ so I’m stuck using the desktop app I think. (using FF mostly but tried Chromium (pls no Chrome))

Will just buying it magically fix all this? 🤷‍♂️ Thanks in advance for any ideas 👍✌️
