Damn, Bloodborne is my favorite game of all time so if Lies of P is anywhere as good as that I have to put it on my radar.

Have you played Bloodborne? If so, why do you prefer Lies of P over it?

They might have sold it to a competitor so this could be a big deal. Not to mention this was one of Billet Lab's only prototype and could've set them back months in terms of R&D.

I caved and bought it at full price 😭 Responsible spending habits are a capitalist conspiracy.

Did this reply contribute anything meaningful to the discussion?

Sucks for us :/ The prices show up in USD.

Shillings. I'll let you guess which kind of shillings ;)

I live in one of those places and we don't have regional pricing. When Steam starts offering competitive pricing in Africa I'll start buying games at full price but for the moment I'll stick to buying games on sale and piracy.

I didn't, and you're right about people needing to step up. I'll try to do so on my end :)

This post wasn't a request to defederate Beehaw btw. I just wanted to discuss ways we can deal with some of the negatives of federation.

I'm sure you Swifties are lovely people :')

I don't think this is a moderation issue and I'll give you an example to highlight why. Someone recently posted to the gaming community asking for advice on a something very basic but easily overlooked. The highest rated comments were basically mocking the poster. Not direct insults or anything ban-worthy but they were unhelpful. I don't think that's the type of engagement that people who signed up for this instance would like to see here.

I saw this discussion brought up on a different thread and I though I'd get some more opinions on the matter.

The Beehaw community guidelines describe a place that's meant to be safe, friendly and encourages people to discuss their ideas in good faith. For the most part I feel like this community lives up to that; users of this instance are generally thoughtful with their responses. However, I don't feel like that level of quality extends to the users who post from other instances. Responses from those users are more likely to pendantic, overly argumentative, and unhelpful.

Now I may just be an elitist fuck so I'd like to hear your opinions on this. Does Beehaw benefit from federation? Do the community guidelines even matter if they don't apply to many of the people who engage with this instance? Am I just looking for a reason to complain?

EDIT: This post isn't a request for Beehaw to defederate btw. I just wanted to discuss the negatives of federation and what we can do to alleviate them :)

I get what you mean but not everyone can afford $60 games. In some parts of the world that's more than half a month's salary.

Dear Threes!

You may have been overshadowed by your simpler (and in my opinion, uglier) younger sister 2048, but in my eyes you're the real catch!

You're dripping with charm from head to toe. Every part of you has been crafted with love and care. Your soundtrack is so playful and catchy, I find myself humming it randomly throughout the day. Oh and your characters! Each of your little number tiles has a name, design and voiceline! It's absolutely endearing.

The best part about you is there's so much depth to go with your charm. You're deceptively deep with your easy to learn but hard to master gameplay. What starts out as smooshing two tiles together grows into planning 3 moves ahead and creating a priority queue so you don't trap a low point tile in the middle of the board. I've been playing you off and on for half a decade and I still havent beat you!

We've drifted away from time to time but I'm so glad I've found you again. I'm coming for that 3072 tile and sooner or later I will beat you.

With love, Bijuice

P.S pls tell your creator to enable the paid version of the app in Kenya. I'm sick of watching ads.

I've always found myself bouncing off hard on "make your own fun" type games like Minecraft or the newer Zeldas. This extends to any type of game that has no clear goals or motivators.

Turns out I'm just an extrinsically motivated gamer. For me, it's about the destination, not the journey. I enjoy games that keep me going with rewards promised at each step of the way. When given the choice to be creative with the tools I'm given, I'll just find the most efficient way of getting it done.

I'd like to hear what type of gamers y'all are. What type of games bring you joy?
