People have been saying this shit in the 500s and before

You can't really expect to have any privacy if you're using any online service anymore, so I just stopped trying. Blasting a Samsung phone with all the features enabled and not thinking of going back really.

We can all blame Google for that.

Any difference in remote access? I think you gotta pay plex for that.

On Android try NewPipe, but dont expect algorithm recommendations, just the main trending pages. Same for iOS use "unwatched"

Most of them are bots anyway and I really wouldn't want "everyone" to find out about and use lemmy because that would be the downfall of lemmy.

Is jellyfin considerably better than plex for local and offline usage?

Eh BIOS level rootkits have been around for a while. If uncle sam wants to watch you, believe me they will, just the same way uncle china does.

Video games used to be good, now most games are just quick cash grabs. I highly recommend old classics if you're planning to get into it.

Exactly this. People shit on the Chinese companies, but the American ones just rip us off with the same product.

You do see ads, you just don't realize it. There are multiple 1-2 minute videos on your feed usually with the title "Introducing [insert product]" and these are product placements that YouTube is very well aware of. They also had the audacity to tell me that these are ads but they don't "interfere" with me watching videos. So, they are injecting ads into premium subscriber feeds already. Disgusting company.

Put poison in the food that’s ok

Everyone knows by now, how much the US healthcare system sucks and tries to funnel money from people’s pockets at every chance.

How do you think this will play out in the upcoming years? Is there anything the common person can do to end this ridiculous system? Do we even have the power to change anything by asking for it in numbers?

If you go to websites like Swappa right now, you can find brand new Google Pixel 9 models for less than $600. Considering Google is trying to sell these phones above $800, I think the market already decided what this series of phones should cost really.

Hi there,

I’m looking for an app with a good widget that would let me track the stocks I’ve invested in. The main issue I’m having with the system app is that the widget is limited to 6 symbols and if you are using an app to track multiple stock prices on a widget, I would love to know what you use. So far tried a few apps but had no luck. Thanks in advance.

Was recently browsing Reddit and noticed a new type of ad which pops up in between comments now. It used to be a few ads in between posts and you would get an ad as the top comment when you click on a post, but now they’re injecting ads in between comments when you are even scrolling comments lol. When do you think this will start having an effect on regular people? Do you think the enshittification will slow down or come to a halt if these companies start losing revenue due to lost customer base?

Hey folks, there are a few apps in the Android world which I use to watch YouTube without ads. Some examples are ReVanced, NewPipe etc. I was wondering if there is a similar app that I can use to fulfill the same needs such as ad blocking, downloading and viewing on iOS. Figured if anyone knew it'd be on Lemmy. Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone,

Been using Boost for a long while now and I'm wondering if the filters/blocks I've made over the past few months persist when I install the app on a new device. I really don't want to see some communities/instances on my feed and does anyone know if this syncs with my user account? Is there a way to backup these filters I've enabled? Appreciate any response.
