I didn't get to posting about it, but I saw last week the announcement about "Beyond the Ice Palace 2", which is the metroidvania sequel to a 1988 Amiga game. Bizarre that now is the time to cash in on the social capital these two games have built up over the years ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผ

I bought it after the positive reviews and have only been able to get to the city after the prologue, so youโ€™re already farther than myself. But part of why I put it down was because it felt too soon to introduce this reprieve from the Metroidvania gameplay loop.

I have every faith that itโ€™ll โ€œget to the good stuffโ€, but I did have a similar feeling to you. Iโ€™m going to give it another hour in a bit.

FYI: c/metroidvanias

Love both, and very excited for their next game, No Rest for the Wicked - which I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s been said explicitly, but is rumored to also be a Metroidvania.

I know it might be a little clichรฉ, but I would still rank Hollow Knight as my #1 Metroidvania, but these two are my #2A and #2B, even after loving the new Prince of Persia. The level of polish is incredible and Wisps just cranked it up even more.

I enjoyed the video the IGN posted about them yesterday.
