Years ago, an ex-girlfriend was proctoring a course at an Ivy League. She had a billionaire's daughter, a legacy admission, in one of her classes. The billionaire's daughter never showed up to class. My ex-gf failed her. Later, when she looked at the recorded grades, the billionaire's daughter who never showed up for class had a 'C.'

Ivy League schools educate many people. But they often just give degrees to the legacy admissions, to the wealthy, and to the politically connected.

The weird part is that there really aren't more than a handful of universities that are actually 'liberal.' Since Conservatives see the world in black and white, all an organization has to do to be seen as 'liberal' is just not be Conservative.

That's it. Either you lick Trump's stank butthole, or you're a 'liberal.' There is no such thing as non-partisan in their world. You either repeat the Conservative talking points, restate Conservative beliefs, loudly proclaim the party's talking points, or you're 'liberal.'

These companies absolutely do need proper competition, but any classification of them as 'American' is shortsighted. These are truly multi-national, global corporations who exert their power across the entire planet and harm people across the entire planet, including in America itself.

I think the stark colors of this album cover affected the way I heard it when I first listened. It sounded like just a straight metal album to me.

We desperately, desperately need legitimate anti-trust actions in the United States; we need something that will reintroduce some actual competition into the market.

The first failure of the federal government that led to this path was in the 1990s and the Microsoft Antitrust Trials. That was the point at which there really could have been another way--but the billionaires, at that point, had all the inroads to government that the Reagan Administration made possible. Because Microsoft could buy politicians, the vast majority of people on the planet have never used any operating system other than Windows, and the Microsoft company gets billions upon billions of dollars from state/federal/municipal contracts.

Google and Apple, then, just followed the path that Microsoft bought and paved through government regulations. And that made it easy for other billion dollar companies like Ticketmaster and LiveNation to do the same thing in other realms--simply buy the laws, buy the politicians, buy the system that's supposed to regulate them, and then use that system to remove all competition.

It's only thanks to non-American, non-European countries that I can still afford to buy some things every now and then.
