Depends on your taste I guess. I don’t play those games because they are there, but because they are « on my list ». I don’t think games like Ori, Hades, Hi-Fi rush, Call of the sea, Persona 5, etc are trash. And when nothing interests me anymore, I just unsubscribe and come back a few months later when there are at least a few interesting games. I agree that I wouldn’t only play on gamepass :).

Unpopular opinion here:

I much prefer to play on Gamepass at the moment. From my personal experience, I will simply never have the time to play again to 90% of my games. It’s just impossible (even if I stopped playing new games today, I am not sure I will be able to do so before I die). Since it’s way cheaper to play this way, I don’t see the point of buying new games anymore (I still buy a few games per year, and just cancel my membership while playing them such as Nintendo games or games I really want to play day one like Cyberpunk).

Besides, over the years, I built up an emulation setup with all the games I played (and old games I would likely play at some point, since I dedicate 50% of my play time to retrogaming). It’s not like it is necessary to own them to play them if you want a nostalgia trip a few decades after their initial release.

Besides, the vast majority of those games will still be available in the future (physical copies, online stores, remaster/remakes, piracy, emulation). I believe it is unnecessary to own every single game in the fear of the being able to (potentially) play it once again in 10 years.

I agree that the gamepass model will likely collapse at some point if it becomes too popular, but it’s not a problem to take advantage to it while it’s profitable and drop it when it’s not anymore (just unsubscribe when you don’t use it, which is what I do 4-6 months per year to play other games).

Very excited to play it on GBA :D. Surprisingly, it looks very close to the GBC game (which is one if not the most impressive game on GBC).

I fight the urge to share too much of my own past experiences or knowledge by speaking to myself in my head during the conversation. I know it annoys people when I do this too often, but it’s so frustrating at the same time to remain silent that I came up with this trick to « unload my mind ». Took me too many years to come up with this solution to be honest ^^.

It was so cool to play it online :D.

That’s a solid choice, also had my Windjammer period a long time ago :). Never thought a game inspired by Pong could be so good 😅.

As I usually say, playing day one is playing to the WORST version of the game 😅. I will still play it day one if I can complete my current games, but we have to keep this in mind when playing day one.

@sparseMatrix Sure no problem, it also took me a while to determine my use of Threads and Microblogging by myself ;).

[–] djidane535@kbin.social 4 points 1 year ago (5 children)

@sparseMatrix Personally, I treat microblogging like Twitter, where I can specify a Magazine as a general hashtag so that the post can be seen by people interested to this subject (or use random when it does not fit a specific magazine).

I treat Threads as Reddit, a forum organized into different categories called Magazines (= subreddit).

Well, at some point, the issue will be addressed by Amazon. If it’s not possible to find good books anymore, they will loose money because people won’t by books from them anymore. If they don’t, someone will take the opportunity to make a « curated » platform.

It reminds me of the famous video games crash, when the stores were flooded by crappy games until Nintendo came with its « seal of quality ».

The main issue will be that independent authors will likely have a hard time to get an audience, since it’s likely that building a « curated » platform will ask entry fee to the authors.

Haha that’s exactly when I got a good computer! I was a console guy until the release of the HTC Vive, and I kept it up to date until today. Only got a Switch for Nintendo games, and waiting patiently for the remaining exclusives to release on PC (but I spend half of my play time on retro games through emulation 😅).
