I think this is more of an OPSEC issue than an Infosec one, but both terms work.

I think the dnd rules are a little vague on this, perhaps intentionally. It does clearly state you fail a pickpocket if the target passes a perception check, but that doesnt mean every undetected attempt passes nor that you cannot steal when someone notices.
Right, but there is currently a constitutional protection which makes it legally okay to exclude any and all self-incriminating evidence and I don't see a police officer clause tacked below it so the officer is factually correct.
