McDonald's has the worst kiosks of the three that I have experienced (the other two being Taco Bell and Burger King.)

They feel slightly laggy, while cramming in as many upsell interstitials (and "log in with your ~~personal data accumulation~~ rewards account" nags) as possible. This makes ordering feel like wading through molasses. The other two could also be slightly streamlined, but the number of clicks to order doesn't feel as egregious. (I'm now tempted to go count and see if my perceptions are accurate...)

Here's a vegan gumbo I made for Thanksgiving a couple years back.

Ah, yes, Western Paganism is famed for its uniformity of belief and complete lack of objectionable people saying hateful things. (Pay no attention to the Nazis behind the curtain, they're not Real Pagans™.)

Excuse me, you seem to be lost. This is buttcoin. The sidebar reminds you that our purpose is "hurling ordure at cryptocurrency/blockchain dweebs of all sorts." And yet you are somehow so lacking in comprehension that you think we have "double standards" because we're not falling over ourselves to act like your lame-ass pretense that crypto has unexplored potential is a novel idea we've never heard of before? LOL. ROFL. LMFAO.

Okay. Now that you've identified four candidates that LW might refer to, which of these do you think it is?

If you selected the obviously correct answer, congratulations. You have learned to apply context clues to understand unfamiliar abbreviations.

If you chose anything else...furrfu. I guess I pity anyone who ever attempts to hold a conversation with you.

Thanks, I hate it.

Many of these threads are made in good faith and out of curiousity, but often times the comments become filled with hatred, ignorance, and trolling.

You don't say.

My favourite was a junior dev who was like, "when I read from this input file the data is weirdly mangled and unreadable so as the first processing step I'll just remove all null bytes, which seems to leave me with ASCII text."

(It was UTF-16.)

"this thing takes more time and effort to process queries, but uses the same amount of computing resources" <- statements dreamed up by the utterly deranged.

It means that Yudkowsky remains a terrible writer. He really just wanted to say "seizing [control of] the executive branch", but couldn't resist adding some ornamentation.

It makes me wonder if these people have ever seen a moving picture before, because being caught up in the slack-jawed astonishment of a novel experience seems the only plausible explanation for thinking this looks good.

Whatever shambling corpse of Toys "R" Us still exists has released "the first OpenAI SORA generated brand commercial."

still frame from the commercial of a child who looks slightly melted

It looks absolutely dire, particularly in motion, but posters are still falling over themselves to call it "cool" and "exciting" or claim that people "might not notice" that it's complete and utter arse. Twitter screenshot of a user admitting that it's a bad ad but claiming that people might not notice it's computer generated

I host my own email and for my day job I run an institutional email system that handles ~50 million messages per week. I can't recommend hosting email at either end of that scale (or anywhere in between), and I find it difficult to believe that anyone with experience running a mail server would claim it's reasonable or straightforward.
