Government should only be afraid of losing the next election - they should never be afraid of their life or family's life for doing their job.

Politicians need to balance opinions from different groups of people, so even the best politicians can never please everyone all of the time. Taking choices you disagree with does not mean they should be afraid for their lives.

As much as I disagree with many choices of politicians, they should never be threatened in any way.

My on-screen keyboard in desktop mode has somehow become undocked and wider than the screen, making it hard to press certain keys which are half off-screen. It still works otherwise - I can open the keyboard by pressing X and close the keyboard by pressing L4.

I don't know how this has happened in the first place, and I can't find a setting for it in Steam. Any idea how I can reset the keyboard position?

Measures like Google Family Link already exist if parents choose to use them.
I don't think legislation restricting what young people can do online would necessarily help. It's illegal for kids to take drugs and drink alcohol yet it still happens. Whatever measures are put in place, there's usually a way around.

They intentionally removed this feature years ago. It was possible to reenable via a dconf setting for a while but I believe that was also eventually removed.
So annoying.

Where are you getting your figures from?

Yeah, this isn't that bad. It's just a suggestion after running an apt upgrade. NPM has similar plugs which I don't find too annoying.

In fact its not even as intrusive as NPM's funding requests, as it is only 2 lines of text, plus it looks like Ubuntu Pro is free for personal use.

Here's the sequel after they realised there were scientific inaccuracies in the original

Who's trying to stamp out vaping entirely? All I'm reading into this article is just "Kids shouldn't start vaping, especially if they have asthma."

The suggested solutions I've seen in the news recently are things like keep the vaping displays away from kids, stop kid-friendly flavours, and make packaging less enticing - all things that they currently do for cigarettes, and all perfectly reasonable IMO.

No-one I've seen is proposing taking them away from adults.

You're not technically wrong, but it's a nuanced issue and people should treat it as such rather than black and white.

Sunak saying "no one can change sex" without any qualifying statements is just designed to inflame and divide people.

Valve are a private company, so Microsoft can't just barge in and buy it up.

Considering the investment Valve has poured into Linux because Gabe doesn't trust Microsoft enough to have his business rely on Windows, I'd be pretty shocked if he decided to sell up to Microsoft.

the RM "installed gravel on the bridge to a depth of 13 to 16 inches with an average depth of 14 inches, which far exceeded the specified load."

WTF, why the hell would they go and dump 16 inches of gravel on the bridge? That's an awful lot of weight.

Clearly this guy couldn't have stopped them dumping gravel after the bridge was completed, but allowing the client to save money on critical safety measures is inexcusable.

It's out in certain places and it's another great chapter. Very detailed, lots of good dialog. We're getting to the peak of the arc!
