They stopped new registrations. But wbu m why would you want to be there anyway?
There are viruses in pdfs, but epub doesn't have an executive layer. So that's highly unlikely. And even if you had read any infected pdfs, I'm not aware of any virus that's able to wreck hardware.
Could probably mess with the firmware, but nothing a factory reset shouldn't fix.
You can't do that preemptively when you don't know what their instance names are going to be.
I use Instagram pretty regularly, have dropped facebook altogether and will delete my reddit account on Tuesday.

They already show random people in their feed that you haven't subscribed to, who their algorithm thinks would be a good match. In the future, some of those people won't be people but bot-fed covert ads.

I'm blocking each and every one of them, and just wait for the day when any app comes with a filter by instance instead of by community. I don't get the appeal with porn on social media when there are free websites entirely dedicated to it, in better quality, and with more frequent updates.
