Haha as always, you do what you can

Lentils, like in a daal, really does it for me.

But mostly I'm just used to feeling hungry before I eat. It's not painful, that's just what a healthy appetite feels like. I find having a regular regimen helps cut out the second guessing.

Disclaimer that I don't know what you're eating. Maybe you just aren't eating enough. Maybe you aren't drinking enough water.

Last Days on Mars.

I rewatch it (and Covenant) at least once a year, and I think it holds up superbly. I actually wasn't too sure if I liked it until I rewatched it.

Not American, but I saw it as the opposite: that US voters are sick of the status quo. They want a radical change candidate who'll shake things up. They want anything but business-as-usual.

Not to discount stupidity and racism. There's that too, but I have to hope it's mostly borne out of fear.

What are you going to do?

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 week ago

Or god forbid, a person of colour. Clearly the US isn't "ready" for that.

/s but also not /s idk honestly, it depends

How do you like it? I tried it a few years ago, but my vim muscular memory made it feel as uncomfortable as learning vim for the first time.

Just get used to

  • using movement (hjkl),
  • going between insert and normal modes (i and esc),
  • undoing (u from normal mode),
  • and saving (:w and :wq).

Don't try to do it all at first, just get comfortable with the essentials. You can even just stay in insert mode (the only mode in most editors) at first.

Keep a vim basics cheat sheet handy for a couple weeks as you're building in muscle memory, then slowly work in more advanced techniques and combinations.

It doesn't take long before you start having a lot of fun just manipulating text.

PS here's a decently basic cheat sheet I found: image describing basic vim keyboard bindings and commands
