Again, there are a lot of (professional) programs which only work in Windows, with no paid/free/open source equivalents for Linux or BSD.

I'm afraid peak computer literacy and hygiene is past us now. Younger folks are so used to everything just working, that the vast majority don't care or are willing to find out how things work. (Don't get me wrong, the vast majority of boomers, gen-x and millennials aren't much better, but tend to have more of a healthy suspicion because of their analog youths.)

True, since Fairphone's focus seems to be on fairness in the hardware. I wish they were better on the software side as well.

I think that, as usual, they didn't care until it affected them.

I don't recall it was hard to install IodéOS on a Fairphone 4.

And are there even industry standard equivalent programs available for graphic designers on Linux?

Most FOSS alternatives tend to be a significant step back for folks used to their closed source industry counterparts like for example Adobe. The available video editing software is either a step back or closed source (DaVinci Resolve).

It's probably the proverbial chicken-and-egg situation.

And DuckDuckGo lacks basic stuff such as keyword exclusion. (It's my main search engine for the last few years after Startpage got bought, but lacking keyword exclusion sucks!)

Someone tell them they don't have to follow Steve Jobs in everything.

Everything needs to be MoNeTiZeD today, even hobbies should be income streams.

Fuck that

Running a Fairphone 4 with IodéOS (another de-Googled privacy focused Android) for close to two years now and I agree that it's a capable phone which doesn't limit myself in any way.

As you mentioned the biggest downside is the camera, which apparently has something to do with the firmware.

Edit: regarding the headphone situation: I'm using Austrian Audio (=former AKG engineering team) Hi-X25BT headphones, which are noticeably better than pods or cheap headphones and have been running well over a year now. They come with both (mini-)jack to USB-C and USB-C to USB-C cables, but I haven't tried the latter yet.

Indeed, the job of most AAA game studios is to get as much money as possible from the gamers to their shareholders.

What an odd article and what odd choices. "Among us" against Dead of Winter, the latter game is much more involved than the former and a comparison with any of the werewolf games would be more appropriate. (Although one could argue on if they're "better".)

"Dead by Daylight" and "Betrayal at the House on the Hill" is also odd, also because the former has a more clearly defined ruleset than the latter (don't get me wrong: I love Betrayal, but it's more of a shared experience than a game).
