AZ has a Dem Governor and both senators are Dems. In 2020 Biden won the state. To call AZ red is a bit disingenuous, especially Tucson which is one of the three major metro areas. Tucson area, Phoenix area, and Flagstaff area are pretty politically opposed to rural AZ. It’s not a solid blue state, but it’s not a red state anymore either. It’s a swing state but with few electoral votes it typically gets ignored.

So I’m sure how we conceive of being the dominant species is biased. But if we talk about civilizations and their ability to eventually propagate beyond earth, I don’t think dolphins have it. Their ancestry tried out land and said “nah, back to the water”. Not to mention anything we do that takes humans out of the equation entirely is going to probably kill off the dolphins, apes, elephants, basically most of the mammalians. It’ll be so long before something evolves to take our place as “earthlings” all our works will be fossils at best

Money has value because it represents power to get someone to do what you want. When fiat currency, then precious metals and jewels lose the ability to get shit done there will be food and water as the remaining currency. In the US there will also be bullets and guns to become fiat currency.

I seriously doubt that sprinkling on top prevented a foot deep puddle of concrete from curing, but if it was still liquid it would have helped get the top layer and if they kept sprinkling while removing each layer it may have been helpful enough. Though sugar spread in front of the concrete would prevent it from adhering to surfaces, so maybe that was the goal. The wood forms they use to hold concrete in place are coated with a sugar and oil mixture so they come off easy. So that would make sense.
My dad told me stories of him chucking a bag of sugar into mixers when pouring slabs if the first truck was taking too long and the next truck got going too early. So a fully loaded mixer is going to need more than one bag to fuck up the whole batch. I’ve never used Apple intelligence and Siri alone has done a fine job for unit conversions, info lookups, and most any other things. No need to fire up chat GPT for those basic uses
