I mean, their stated goal is actually to devalue the dollar so exports are more attractive. Of course, that also means importing becomes more expensive, and China makes everything, so there's no way people are going to be happy about that.

The government can just print money, they don't actually strictly need your taxes (see MMT). The only actual path is withholding labour and mass protests (with at least a credible threat of violent escalations).

I mean, on a Linux system that's not riddled with flatpak / snap / ... You'd basically only need to update libpng and you'd be good.
