where exactly are these things located? according to heyjackass.com there have been nearly 1000 persons shot in Chicago YTD, but this report says that only 115 incidents on the shotspotter. Of the nearly 1000 most of them are single victim, but about 100 are multi, with 2 being the second most common after singles at 83 so far. A rough estimate still has the incident number being over 700 which is far different than 115

I've seen a few hundred of these emails in the past couple days coming in from multiple different companies.

I'm looking for more info.

at least one said it was zendesk, most did not say any software.

the tickets are being sent with CC addresses that contain large email lists. often others on the CC who don't know what's happening will reply "stop emailing me".

so far I've seen this coming in to multiple addresses and none of the sending companies are familiar either.

sounds familiar to anyone? any info on this? it's there a name i can lookup to find more info? i want to know what services this effects so i can properly protect my stuff and my work stuff.

it's my understanding that you won't make a full copy of everything. you'll only copy the communities that are added and you won't be copying the full history.

I'm unsure how far back it goes but it might be just the one day. i saw talk of changing it to go back as far as someone actually scrolled and pressed next but that was just an idea at this point.

hmm. i dunno if you can but it would make a lot more sense to do it that way. seeing Lemmy stuff on mastodon sucks because comments are individual and don't make sense out of context.

I'm a teacher and i always tell my students to definitely don't ever go to LibGen where their textbook is likely available totally free and certainly don't return your textbook and i absolutely won't be using it myself either.

since there isn't any strong way to collect data or advertise it will always be an underdog compared to big business.

that being said, the fediverse could outlast a few mainstream networks and build lasting strength with that. I'm an ideal setting it could become a defacto network over time.

can we get young people coming here though? that's how we get the tides to turn

American here, I pick on the same people for the same reasons.

The education system is pretty bad in many places and it's done on purpose. An educated populous is harder to fool

I made this for a BBQ competition in 2019 and won first place in the side dish category against 60 teams. I'm still very proud
