I believe it’s based of activitypub like federated protocol. But doesn’t stop facebook from forking it to a point where its just as good as defederated. As much as i hate facebook; i would like for there being competition for twitter, so monopoly can be challenged!

It works for a few minutes and then stops. Clearly heavy server overload

I did not use Apollo. I used the alien blue / official Reddit app. It’s not the best Reddit client out out there. The thing that annoyed me the most is the toxic masculinity and the deterioration of subreddits in the last few months. I don’t know the challenges that mods face with regards to api changes, but the line for me is when spez talked about musk and twitter. I mean, I left twitter almost a month into acquisition as things got very toxic and inflamed. I have a suspicion Reddit will go into a slow death spiral with content being just reposts from tik tok(which was already happening).

At the end of the day, I find lemmy a bit more palatable for two reasons, it’s slow moving and there is quality content, and not just some staged videos from tik tok. If I wanted to see tik toks I’ll be in TikTok.

need to give it a try. I'm stuck in the past times lol

It depends on a lot of factors, depends on twitter response and what the mods chose to do about it.

Personally, with the twitter shenanigans, I stopped paying for their blue thing and don’t use it unless someone links to it. So my Twitter usage has down to the floor.

I may take the same approach to Reddit. There is still time to change course, but I’ll go where the crowd goes, and keep tabs on alternatives. I will stop paying for premium and don’t open it as much, and hope Lemmy keeps me occupied enough.

Highly recommend it. Been using it for the last few days and it’s been stable!!

Also this comment was posted from the app!

What’s the Lemmy equivalent? I’m still new and figuring it out here.

I think as a CEO he did a piss poor job explaining what they were trying to achieve. There were a thousand ways to reassure the community, but instead they make it worse. Sigh. Spez is the same spez he always was

so true :) I was explaining my missus about the blackout and she thought that meant I will have more time(Reddit is top of my screen time) that I can use to do other things, little did she know that I’m going to be wasting it on Lemmy lol.

[-] kunday@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I honestly thought this would reduce my screen time as Reddit is on the top of the list. But here I am at Lemmy lol.

Long time Reddit user; new Lemmy user. 14 years to be precise. I'm already loving how good the community is and how positive the content is without all them bots. I'll do my best to contribute!
