Lol that pun was totally unintentional.

Lofi pedals are fun regardless of the genre honestly. I bet there's some black metal guitarists who use the gen loss and just are afraid to say so publicly for fear of losing metal cred. Also look into the new Chase Bliss Lossy pedal too, it's also lofi but digital lofi instead of physical lofi emulations.

Recently had to change doctors because my old doctor decided to go pro in soccer, which would be funny except my new doctor won't just let me take the medications I've already been on for years and wants to start all over. These aren't even drugs that can be used recreationally so I don't get it. There are very few doctors in my area that take my insurance so I'm kinda stuck. The anxiety has killed my creativity recently.

But finally I just decided to play guitar without thinking and not worry about the outcome. When I stop fretting about the end result, I think I make better music. Yeah this track is mostly in mono and the kicks are drowned out by the guitar amp, but I like it anyway. The video was made using a hardware video synth called the sleepy circuits hypno, I patched it so the music would line up with what's showing up on the screen and put a webcam in front of the looping song. I'm filming the output with my phone on an old monitor to add to the nostalgic feeling.

The Lofi sound was made by slowing the loop down til it was nice and crunchy and then adding some wow and flutter on top. I used a pedal called the Blooper to do all of that and the looping.

It's modular idm + video synthesis so it's basically a niche within a niche within a niche. And then throw in all the chaos that comes with using two new complicated devices live for the first time and this is what you end up with lol. There's not a lot of substance to get, you either like the chaos or don't. There's tons of better examples that weren't made in one night though, this is just my swing at things.

I'm posting this here because I usually only post music to this website so when I'm depressed or coming off drugs, so it feels nice to have a happy reason for a change. The wedding went great and I got to reconnect with a bunch of old friends. Even got a possible film scoring gig!

4/5 of the groomsmen aren't musicians at all and the one who is just plays a little guitar. So I tried to teach them how the gear worked when they showed interest, but when you're tripping, trying to understand modular synthesizers is basically like learning quantum mechanics. Even my pedalboard was beyond the guitar player. So I just hooked everything up so it would make sounds and let them go to town turning knobs and pressing buttons. I didn't play any instruments myself, I was the instructor.

Once they were having a blast, I realized I could very easily use my portable sampler to collect all their coolest noises. I wasn't planning on making a song out of any of it since it was all in different keys and BPMs, but later on when I couldn't sleep and was still tripping I decided a short song would be a cool memento to remember the trip by. I was 70% sober by this point but also exhausted and had a wedding the next day, so I gave myself a little over an hour to mix their sounds together (with a few samples from packs) and then I could call it a night. I think I did pretty good by that standard.

The visuals are from a Hypno video synth and were also mostly made by my friends randomly turning knobs. All I did was make the final song's drums sync up to the modulation and tweaked one knob to not give me a seizure.

Basically I'm just playing the pedals and the boss slicer is the one creating the different patterns I change to. I changed the pattern three times and somehow they all flowed decently because of my reverb freeze tactic.I actually got pretty lucky the result sounded even close to real music considering everything but the visuals was done in a nasty haze. It turns out, blacking yourself out with alcohol is worse than getting no sleep. So obviously I've been in a rut, but I'm two weeks sober from flualprazolam, which is like the bloodborne monster of all benzos. Problem is it's a 48 hour half life so even NOW it's still in my system.

Try to listen in stereo if you can because mono's gonna have some major phase issues if you care about that type of shit. Sorry for being kind of a leech on this community; I mostly only come here when I have something to share, but I swear I did my fair share of hard labor in the ol mega-threads of r/cth.

If you have a tiktok, I'm @middaymeds on there. But that audience just like blinky lights and waves of color, no one's throwing on headphones while scrolling through their daily slop.

I'll edit it in. I forget to just because I have epilepsy too but these sorts of things don't trigger it.

I spent a week working in on this nonstop which is the most motivated I've been in ages! I have so many paths i want to follow for new projects that im almost overwhelmed. Mosf of my support is on tiktok if you want to follow me @mhurley187 and help China defeat the West. I'm surprised at how cool the music scene is there once you teach the algorithm to stop showing you 99% shit.
